I have always disliked
GW tanks and vehicles. If the heroic scale of infantry is barely acceptable (especially the new PSM infantry),
GW tanks are a joke. The size is too small, the barrel is comicly huge, and the ridiculously small turret that can't actually accommodate even a single crew -- they can never regarded as scale models.obviously.
This is a matter of personal aesthetics. I know
GW designed the tanks and vehicles like this for the sake of desktop games, but I surely prefer the scale model.
And, you know,
GW tank vehicles are very expensive and totally out of proportion to their quality.
Therefore, I have been strongly inclined to use the scale model for Warhammer
40K army.
Here is an example. You can try to use Tamiya 1:35 M113 as rhino APC. It takes only a few conversion to achieve the effect.
Another question: how to convert the scale model to Baneblade and Fellblade?
They can actually be regarded as 1:35 tanks. But taller. Although it looks like a overtop track (sponson weapons are installed between two rows of wheels), it is actually the normal track design of an modern tank, which only increases its top armor.
Key points: kitbash the scale model of a 1:35 tank into warhammer superheavy tank, you have increase the tracks-top armor and hull to achieve the effect of Warhammer
40K tank.
A big problem here is the sponson weapons, which can be redesigned as suspended weapon platform, that is, the weapons are "hanged" on both sides, rather than installed in the middle of two rows of wheels.
