Greetings folks,

So we know that in December there will be two new codexes, one xenos and one imperial... what do you think would be the WORST two reveals they could be? Let's not go overboard (no "My Little Pony" predictions!) but give us what you think would be the two worst reveals within reason.

Also, just gonna nip this one in the bud: no saying "Space Marine Codex Re-Release". I know, I know, it totally does fit the theme of this post, but it would be too easy to derail.

Let's have those predictions!

I'm guessing you haven't seen the very credible rumor/leak (it's been 100% correct so far) that said December will be a Custodes vs GSC box right?

So you are probably half correct and get half of your wish.

codex: ultramarines and codex: Yinari. 5 brand new boxed kits for the smurfs, a single "new" kit for the knife ears, and its a AOS kit thats been retasked.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

I know that *I* certainly didn't hear that!

The last I had heard the smart money was on Guard vs. Tyranids.

My own worst pick:

1) Imperial Agents/Assassins

2) A supplement codex for Orks or Drukari ("Look, it's a new FLAVOR of Drukari!")

All but confirmed at this point that it will be Custodes and GSC.

Yeah if that information is from the same leak that's gotten everything else right so far then I guess we know what they will be. Definitely interested to see what direction GSC goes, they need to change their gameplan to work in 9th.

Custodes and Harlequins would probably be worst, because they'd benefit the factions least in need of a new book. GSC need a book, I don't dispute that, but they're also a relatively minor faction and it's crazy to me that they'll get priority over Nids, Tau, and Eldar (from a Xenos perspective.)

And let's not even mention Chaos Space Marines...

Hrud vs Nicassar. And the only model the Nicassar get is a large version of the BFG support ship And the Hrud are done up as imperial mercenaries.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

For a december release? Almost any, since a december release suggests to me limited to no (or one special character) model release, and everybody still waiting for a 9th edition codex needs real model releases. So for xenos, craftworlds and tyranids would be worst, since the former needs piles of plastic and the latter needs to actually be finished, finally (which means replacing the last of the failcast)

GSC would honestly be _best_ simply because they're packed with LT/support characters that functioned as throw away releases already. So one more doesn't make any difference.

Worst Imperial would probably be Codex: Assassins or Codex: Inquisition. Just for the waste of a release slot on 'not an army' and 'to do this justice, we have to start over from scratch now, but the budget doesn't allow for it' respectively.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Given that DE have had zero new units in over a decade and seem to have about half the options of other books, I'd take it.

It'll probably be Imperial Guard and Tyranids.

Kill Team, however, could very likely be gene-cults and custodes.

Clearly the worst pick will be "codex: an army I don't play!" I mean How DARE GW release codices for armies other then those I don't personally play! everytime they di that it's a slap in the face!

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

So howabout less space marine 9.5 That's way too easy. Let's have fun ones in spirit of OP post.

Ynnari and Inquisition would be my vote.

I think the worst pick would be a codex for an army that has recently been updated!

Imperial: So GW has had some hits and misses recently, in terms of model releases and the expected sales spike that they wanted to accrue with them. Their best success recently was the new primaris wave that brought the fantastic melta buff - I mean, that the melta buff COINCIDENTALLY COINCIDED WITH OF COURSE ACCIDENTALLY and eradicators were quite popular for no reason.

So, with the launch of SISTERS OF BATTLE 3.0, tentatively titled "Sisters of Battle, Maybe You Didnt Hear Us That First Time" gw is really making sure to boost up that most iconic weapon, and I think you'll all agree the weapon that the sisters of battle are most well known for, the Battlecannon.

The battlecannon will be part of the new breed of "ultrablast" weapons, alongside the missile launchers (which coincidentally the new sisters warsuits have on their shoulders) which have languished unused for far too long.

If an opponent has any 11+ model units in their army regardless of whether they are on the board, before the game begins all aultrablast weapons in your army score 2x their maximum hit value, automatically hitting against each one of those units.

And of course, to accompany that hotly anticipated release, we have DRUKHARI 2.0 DRUKHARI FOR CHRIST. The rules for drukhari have already been very positively received, so they will only be receiving buffs to the units that people aren't using in tournaments, primarily drukhari 2.0 will be a full model range refresh to address the frequent and unceasing complaints of Ethel Nesbit of Blarthamshire By The Sea, who since the fifth edition relaunch of drukhari has lobbied tirelessly for those Spiky Blighters to Cover Up and Find Jesus.

All drukhari units will from now on no longer be depicted with any spikes, whips, chains, hooks, strap-ons, marital aids, syringes (handily avoiding political controversy as well!) or any other Instrument Of Offensive Nature, and will instead only be equipped with wholesome, patriotic wepaonry befitting the product of the queen's own country.

These two codexes will be released alongside a special Sisters/Drukhari "newly forged alliance friendship pack" depicting the two erstwhile foes finding common cause on the cover. GW of course heard the complaints about the plastic monopose sisters models from the original pack, and has fixed what they are CERTAIN was the original problem, so all sisters models will be delivered in crisp, perfect, monopose Citadel Finecast (tm) and all the drukhari figures in the box will be finecast as well - keen-eyed longtime fans of the sisters of battle may even recognize a few (all) of the sculpts!!!!

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

That is very true, Aash!

Afterall, the Space Marines codex has been out for nearly a year now and clearly in need of an update! Why, they'll need to update the subfaction chapter supplements too!

Sorry Chaos Marines and Craftworld players, but you must wait your turn.

Actually, to throw fuel on the fire...I'd like to see a Tome Keeper book. I've got the white dwarfs, but sitting by the fireplace( wearing a smoking jacket, naturally ) with a bunch magazines just doesn't feel the same as browsing through a nice hardback.

Speaking of which, any rumours of the highly anticipated Codex: Primaris Lieutenant? And will it be accompanied by that model of a Lieutentant sitting by a fireplace...wearing a smoking jacket and slippers?

agreed. TBH threads like this are absolutely toxic, all it does is result in a buncha salty donkey-caves saying "YOUR ARMY ISN'T AS IMPORTANT AS MINE BECAUSE IT'S NOT MINE!"

Likely way it went?
They picked Custodes to release because 'Imperial' and then went looking for something to pair against them that makes sense from a story perspective. A GSC being found near (or on) Terra and the Custodes coming to stomp it out makes more sense then Tau, Eldar or Nids showing up that close to home.
