She is decent sized, 1/1000 scale so the 214meters is 214mm of model. All blue resin coated in black primer now.

Thanks, they still have a pain and decal journey to go through!

I also have some terrain paint updates. I have almost finished the Administration surface building, and the surface for Booty Bumper Bar and Grill, Adult Entertainmanet. you go in, dedal with reception/coat check, then go down stairs or the lift for any disabled folks, and do what you went to either building for.

Administration, painted to look like weathered stone, for that look of authority for the Mayor, sheriff, and municipal departments. the window allows folks to see if reception has a qeue.

Entrance is set so the building can deal with lines, and also do that whole leadership building thing.

Of the many products by LenCo, a subsidiary of Lenzabi-Corp, the LenCo hab walls that are made on arrival at colonies from container parts that held the parts/food-stuffs/seeds/fertilizers/animals, etc the colony needed; are also made with Len-Chrome lighting strips!
That's right, why have the inefficiency of walls, and ceilings needing wires and appliances separately, when they can be "all in one"? The beauty of the light strips is that they are made to last! No light bulbs to replace, and with new containers, well, if they do stop working, there will be replacements available from the depot master! (He or she will be a duly authorized sales representative of the company to sell you those replacement walls). Paint will depend on local hardware salesmen.

"Here, the enterprising proprietor of this Lounge used several color options(easily programmable), and made them offset the paints he used to paint his outer surface attraction unit! My how colorful! " "So, if you are looking to build and accessorize on a far distant colony or some low cost housing set up closer to the core worlds, try LenCo container/building supplies equipped with Len-Chrome wiring and lighting today!"
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]

Now here, as with most government on colonies administrations go, the leader5s here went with a more conservative, and authoritative color pattern for their central offices surface section.
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]

That ios my work so far with the intact Mantic terrain pieces fore the colonial buildings I have so far, some touch ups are needed, and then the tower in my usual military colors.

Good work, Shas'. Nice effort on the signage, very cheeky.

I quite like the look of your grey, patchy / streaky, undercoat you have on the walls. Would be good for a worn / broken ruin with some washes thrown at it.

Thank you Dr.H, I do have shaky hands, and that was all hand work with my smallest brushes!

I have the ruins that look too clean so far, and will do that to them, and washes, and blast blackening and fire soot like work, on them. They are currently clean and would show what a normal store or hab unit might look like before the damages.

First the smaller subterranean hab entry that got hit. Pretty much the people deal with shaking off mud , dirt, or other such things then go down below to their apartments, the upper section, well that would be where the manager/super-intendent lived, pretty much over both A and B apartment zones.
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]

Now just a place for battling soldiers to use for cover.

The subterranean stores, place where folks could go and get food, clothing, supplies, and tools and or needed weapons as wild life on alien worlds can be dangerous. though at low power, the light strips still welcome folks.

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Affton, MO. USA

Looking good Shaso

I never understood painted spaceships. I think all space ships should be differing shades of grey as the metal plates are all made individually and then assembled. But painting in space would be hard and not very cost efficient. Even if you had a star port big enough to bring the ship into an atmosphere, the time requirements let alone the space needed to store the paint would be ludacris.

Just my two cents.

Not where I should be

Great work on the scenery, nice and colourful.

It's kinda funny, what Theo is saying is always on my mind too, though I am sure the Federation ships are relatively standard and probably do come in a uniform colour, I always think of Klingon as slightly rusty hulks, more than painted, Struggle with them taking that much care about appearance, over function. Especially when you can't see them most of the time!

But I also have the Red Dwarf in mind, and I guess they could maybe come up with magnetic paint.

Good work, Shas'.

Have you ever considered using masking tape to help reduce the amount of touching up you need to do? I think it'd be worth looking into and would have been really useful for all those straight lines.

As for painting in space, electrostatics is all you need. It's how they spray-paint both sides of a car panel in one go now, never mind in the distant future.

Or, as Cam' said, give people PD for when they give their crewmates magic mushrooms.

Thanks Theo

Well, you don't want ships with light reflecting if they are meant to fight other ships, and with the Star Trek replicators can mass produce the electrostatic paint needed like Cam and Prof. H said below.

Federation ships are always shiny as they are not looking to hide, and don't need to as they have parts on-board that are like fat deposits they can lose in battle, where the lean mean Klingon ships do not. ;P

Red Dwarf and all that electrostatic red paint!

I have,, but the small cut tape is a bit too fiddly, so I tend to just live with touching up.

It's a fair point.
I've used one or two lengths of tape before to get straight lines and then moved them around as I've moved about the model. Not cut to shape/length, just quick and dirty.

Was just curious if you had when you mentioned touching up the paint.

I am forever touching up the paintwork on my models. Often back and fourth; paint one colour, paint second colour, touch up first, touch up second, touch up first again...
So I also tend to try and find good ways to avoid it.

I also regularly use a moist brush to "erase" any painting slips before it dries.
I have a couple of old brushes where the bristles have worn down to a short stub with works really well for this technique.

It was a good question, and yeah, I may "touch up" the old cruiser several times before I stop, LOL

I have used blue tape on larger projects to help keep a straight line like on the British style stripes on super-heavy tanks.

Hmm Moist brushes as eraser types, I also have worn brushes that could wortk that way, and here I was thinking of using them just as stippling tools!

Okay, I ordered and got the Humans Sphere books and it did come with a female soldier, I also got me some new buildings made of plastic-card stock, so here is the square building. Model 5 for all off world colony needs for those who like to be private, or a young couple just starting out.
[/img]
[/img]

The well made door will keep out unwanted visitors of any kind
[/img]
[/img]

Windows also have their own heavy duty slid down shutters, making this model a personal fortress!
[/img]
[/img]

But for one or two people, it has enough room for the modern space cabin that it is, and the modular design means it could be stacked, or added onto!
[/img]

Door and shutter panels
[/img]

a ladder can be added to the order for getting to the roof, so one can use it to look from, or add on air systems to make life even more comfortable!
[/img]

The roof is also roomy, so you and your friends can do some lazy-man hunting, or relax with a cooler of beers and loungers!
[/img]

Lots of possibilities with a bare unit!
[/img]
[/img]

Options
[/img]

And as this wall shows, it is fairly easy to assemble our Model 5 cabin once it arrives at your property to start your new life on whatever planet you move to!
[/img]

Color options are endless
[/img]

So act now! Order your Model of cabin from our catalogue today!

I also had this little number come in. Sheets are flat, curves means bending it oneself.

This little number can serve any number of Military, Police, Official and science roles.
[/img]
[/img]
[/img]

It can set up anywhere, on hills for observation post purposes or relay stations, at the edges of towns as defense outposts, in town as Police and emergency posts. It will all really depend upon the tools and equipment the buildings are set up with.

I thought that building was one you made from scratch from plasticard for a while. looks really good. Was it much of a pain to assemble?

Also care to share a link to the company that makes them? I'm curious to see if there is anything else that they make.
