I’m just wondering if there is a way to see the most ignored person on Dakkadakka? I mean there has to be a way that Manchu and Legoburner or even the MODs could compile all the names with how many people have put them on ignore. I know I must be in the running, so I’m wondering if I get a trophy or something. It might also be a clear indicator of who is just antagonistic in the threads and perhaps a warning might need to be sent to them. I know in the last few weeks I have added more people to my list because of either complete their political or philosophical reasonings and I just don’t want to keep tripping over them.

Not trying to vote someone off the island, but if someone is on a lot of ignore lists is it because they are pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable here or just bad at telling jokes.

I'd put you on ignore for that comment, if I could...Alpharius 2/11/14

If the most ignored person was broadcasted to the site, what steps would be taken to ensure that people are not “voted off the island,” or mass ignored out of group bias/bullying (ex. That infamous Friday music video). Furthermore, how would one know for sure that the most ignored person was ignored due to antagonistic behavior and not another reason? (ex. Again, that Friday video)

Apologies, I’m not very good at these sorts of discussions. Just wanted to put a couple concerns out there for details.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning for general consumption, more just for MODs to be able to see a trend/ possible abuse happening. Lately I have used the ignore button a lot more as I just don't need the antaganism in my hobby life. Too many other facets of society that are allowing people to say or do things that is just counterproductive to the whole, I just want to discuss my plastic figures. I am sure that I am not alone in that regard, but today when I went into a thread looking for news and saw a set of 4 people in a row that I have on ignore.

I guess it's more just general gripping by me, rough week, but I've seen complaints in nuts and bolts from others who reference the same people.

Just an idea....file it under bad.

I am 100% sure the mods are already aware of who the problem children are on the site without generating metrics to quantify it

Assuming they don't already have that info.

Also seeing there's no reason WHY person is put to ignore it doesn't give that much info anyway.

Likely more useful info is who triggers most mod alerts and if alert resulted. Shouldn't be hard feature to create so would expect the forum software to have it

I get where you’re coming from. I’ve seen some pretty heated conversations here from time to time that turned quite nasty. I find hitting the newer threads reduces the frequency of running into these kinds of arguments, or entering a discussion by asking questions that (attempt to) avoid expressing an opinion.

It never hurts to get ideas out there either. Sorry if my last post came across as a bit blunt.

From moderating other sites I don't think any default forum software has the function to harvest ignore or friend data. It might well just be its never considered that important and its likely that it might even get classed as personal information.

Also the data itself might not be all that prudent to identify problem people. In general ignores are used for all kinds of things even when two people have a minor dispute or just because someone doesn't like the tone, attitude, posts or such of another person. Someone might be on several lists without ever actually taking any antagonistic action against the site or members etc...

Sometimes raw data without the full context is at best meaningless and at worst dangerous to use

Heck consider that ignore lists are like an unpopularity aspect; you can be hated and yet people pay attention to you; and you can be ignored and yet never have had a hostile word against anyone.

It's something that Lego can pull from the database as raw data, but as mentioned above it's not particularly useful as a metric - quite often, the 'problem posters' actually have more people on ignore themselves rather than the reverse, or they might be quite popular on the forums for one reason or another while still causing issues.

I feel like the answer is easy.

It's the cabinet bots who used to post in OT every month trying to sell us discount cabinets. The whole board put them on ignore with the mighty banhammer

If not the cabinet bots, definitely that one guy who was here for all of like, 2 threads 8-9 years ago to tell us how racist non-Asians were for cosplaying as anime characters. Why did someone come to DakkaDakka to rant about that? IDK. Why were cosplays of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist (the not-German from fantasy-Germany of all places) what upset him? No clue. But they basically vanished after the extremely negative reception their antics got so yeah.

Either the cabinet bots, or the guy who was angry people outside Japan like anime. One of those two EDIT: Although there was G-Baby. Maybe a three way tie there and that's basically it for my memory of users who were in some form or another run out town as it were.

No worries, I wasn’t offended one bit.

It just seems DakkaDakka is getting more of the heated arguements where people in the know are absolutely right and it’s just not as much fun to read as it used to be. Then again I guess we are an escape from the “real world” where people can voice their opinions.

MODs feel free to lock this at your leisure.

I imagine people will more ignores would also have been around longer, having increased exposure to people who may ignore them. People also change; someone ignorable from 5 years ago may have grown up and be perfectly reasonable now, but many will still have them on their ignore list because they never go back to un-ignore people.

Personally I try to go through at least once a month to cull my ignore list, but I know others in the past have taken a long list of ignores as some strange badge of pride.
