I bought the Numinous Occulum as a cheap terrain piece. It was on sale. And in 40K, I can say it was an old art exhibit of the emperor ariving on the word.

However, the thing is horrible. None of the parts want to fit together. In many places I can see right through it (colums, etc.) It is a very bad terrain piece.

Is this others experience or did I put it togteher wrong?

This is a common problem of the original AoS terrain kits. They weren't just priced higher than what was usual at the time for terrain kits but GW also switched to a cheap Chinese manufacturer for them. The plastic isn't the same standard and the pieces don't always go together as they should. They're pretty shoddy kits.

My local store had a few as part of the AoS promotion and they all suffered those problems. I bought an Ophidian Archway myself years later because it's too cool to pass up, but as expected it has massive gaps in the columns that will need a lot of putty to fix.

Old GW terrain kits are horrible. The Fantasy range had the same problem. A hot glue gun is your best friend.
I think the switch to a new and better chinese caster was with the 2018 Kill Team release.

I beg to differ. The old Cities of Death terrain was fine. The Planetstrike kits, too. 40k for a good long time had kits that fit together neatly and used what we'd consider GW standard plastic. Things got somewhat worse with the Wall of Martyrs terrain group and culminated in the early AoS kits.

I've not been exposed to old Fantasy kits much so I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on that one, as far as that goes anyway, but GW did produce decent kits before they allowed quality to slip. GW's terrain kits have pretty much been the plastic manifestation of the downward spiral of the Kirby era.

Yeah, I have the tower from planetstrike. It is solid. (To bad it works very badly in 9th edition.)

Good to hear that the AoS terain was horrible. I have some of the terain from killteam v1. And that terain is AWSOME.

Numinous Oculum and Dragonfate Dais are both horrible.
Realmgates are ok, mostly due to them being just a few pieces.
Observatory is kind of ok.
Faction terrain is very good.

Cities of Death is good.
Wall of Martyrs, especially the larger pieces like Plasma Obliterator, is crap. On the other hand, Fortress of Redemption, Bastion and Landing Pad, Void Shield Generator are good.

Hand the chance to put my hands on all of these kits.

Well, that's distressing. I bought the Numinous Oculum, but have not started assembling it. If it's that bad, should I just not bother, and see if I can sell or trade it?

I mean, they ARE doable. Ant they will look OK on the table, but the process is ugly. Don't sell it, it's a good looking terrain. At least you can hold onto it if you are not burning for money - it might go oop some day and will be worth like x3 the money you paid

Thanks for the reply. I bought it for the look, so if if can be built, I'd rather keep it. And you also make a good point that if it goes OOP, its price will climb.
