I just found out about the below magazine that sends models and paint with each issue out of the UK. It is apparently going live in the US Q1 2022 and was curious to what people thing about the value?

I am a newer Dark Angels player so all the space marine figures look great to me but do they come at a discount or is it the same price per model as just buying the box itself?

I know the non-space marine stuff would be a sunk cost for me but I don't mind selling it on ebay / FB Marketplace, if the Space Marine models have value.

Any thoughts from the people in the UK who get this or if it ROIs?

Thank you

You're buying it for the models and paints etc. The magazines themselves are garbage unless it's literally your first time getting into the hobby and you've never done a Warhammer before.

The intention of the magazines is to get people into Warhammer so of course, they're going to be worthless to people already in the hobby.
The models are generally very good discounts (Lady Olynder was about a £10 discount IIRC and was available at general store retail), and any products you don't want are sure to be useful to someone else be it a friend, another new start, or even just being sold/traded online.
I grabbed Conquest when it came out and while I unsubscribed early on, in hindsight it was a big mistake doing so. The Primaris formed some of my first Deathwatch units and many of the Deathguard units were drafted into my Black Legion, whereas the Pox Walkers got me into Necromunda with a Cult Gang. It stopped me from dropping way too much money each month on 40k stuff and kept my paint supply fairly well stocked as well.
I think the biggest problem you're going to run into is that Imperium isn't just Space Marines but Admech and Sisters as well. If you don't want 4 armies plus terrain it might get a bit much.

As well as the contents list (still a WIP as we are very early in the run), here is a breakdown of the full contents and savings, as well as what other sets the models come in.

TLDR: it’s a bargain.

I subscribed to the full run of Conquest, loved every minute. Only reason I haven’t signed up for Imperium is that I already have the SOB army box, Indomitus box, Shadowspear box, and a massive Necron army I have been building since 7th Edn. And I’m not about to start picking up Admech. Even so, I will be cherry picking issues of Imperium from Forbidden Planet for the choice units which can be grabbed for a major discount.

I also sold Conquest issues I wasn’t interested in on eBay for a minor profit, so there is headroom for that if you don’t want certain issues in the run.

Enjoy!

Edit: forgot about Shadowspear.

While this is useful information, I swear to the Emperor that Fauxhammer needs taking offline until they learn restraint when it comes to banner ads, images, etc.

I shouldn't have to Pg Dn twice on my laptop before I hit even the title graphic for the article, and a couple more times until we get to the meat and drink.

Agreed. The man is on a mission. Somewhat annoyingly, he does seem to have cornered the market on content updates direct from Hachette. His contents list is weeks ahead of anyone else’s (FP, Darksphere), and is invariably accurate. But, his site is how I know what issues to buy blind from FP before they sell out, so, I guess it’s a useful but annoying resource?

The savings are pretty damned solid.

If you’ve got a friend interested in the Necron half, a single subscription will see you both save a bundle of cash - doubly so in the USA, as the issue price is set by Hachette, and is pretty much directly comparable to the GBP cover price. So you’re saving money anyway, then removing GW’s foreign exchange premium.

If you’re looking at cherry picking, find a reliable online supplier. I netted a few of Issue 5 for the exclusive Captain to assist another Dakkanaut, and ordered from Forbidden Planet. But if you’re early enough, you can order from Hachette directly.

Even when things go out of stock, it’s predecessors Conquest and Mortal Realms got periodic restocks, so it’s worth checking in every now and again.

Some kits will be spread over multiple issues. If memory serves, the Repulsor tank in Conquest was over four issues. 3 with one of the constituent sprues, one with the base. Even at its £7.99 per issue cost, you were still saving money. £18.00 to be precise.

The individual Characters tend to provided the best value. Or….at least they did…..

Imperium includes a set of 5 Flayed Ones. With their shelf price of £31.50, but an issue price of £8.99, I trust you can see why I’m biding my time for that bargain!

I have a subscription, the magazines are fine. The tidbits of fluff and lore are alright but that's a couple of pages in a magazine dedicated to helping out new players how to play, and it's good at that.

The minis you get are at a discount which is what most people go for and an easy way to pick up paints for a marginal saving. Great if you don't mind what you're getting, not so great if you want to build a specific army.

I've got a subscription and so far it's been very solid. The magazines are so-so, but let's be honest - that's not the main draw. That said, they actually present quite reasonable introductions to both the lore and gameplay.

I'm planning on launching a blog in the Painting & Modelling section where I go through what you get a month at a time. It looks like there's more than enough to use going forwards!

If you a) can get them(I live in country with no real feasible way to get one) and b) are interested in building up one or two armies from them...get it. And some issues you can safely buy lot more than 1. If I still had necron army I would kill for the magazine with flayed ones for example.

I think I need to spread the Flayed One love a bit.

For those in Australia, their Dollar price equates to £45.00. For five models. That’s right, if I can bag a few, someone can save 80%, before we consider shipping costs.

Even in the U.K., we’re saving 75%! Just need to keep a beady eye out for when it’s coming, and make sure I’m in a position to pre-order a bunch of copies.

I'm thinking about getting it when its available in the USA. My son will love the necrons. I can always sell off any specific models I don't want as well to the local community.

I'm going to pick up select issues to add to my existing crons.

It's not worth getting every issue but it's not a bad option of you want to start either army.
