Sorry if its the wrong Sub to post this thread.

For the title, where can i buy bits within in the EU which are in stock?
It could be bad luck, but whenever I look for bits, the first 5-10 sites on Google are out of stock or dont list them at all.
Have been looking for normal Lightning Claws and Bladeguard Shields for quite some while now.
I hope someone direct me towards my bits^^

Greetings Hell

Try eBay or Bits & Kits, but stuff is thin on the ground right now.

Unfortunately after the proliferation of monopose kits and 3D printers all the sites that sell bitz are slowly fading away or at least they're dramatically reducing their restocks. It's really hard now to find the desired bitz for cheap, like it used to be until a few years ago.

Thanks, i didnt know that. Also makes sense. Monopose is nice for Starters, but imho suck for regular Kits.

A few years back GW stopped selling trade to bitz stores or any store breaking kits down from retail. As a result bitz stores had to get kits either secondhand, full price or if a store closed or such.

As a result profits went way down; prices went up and they generally only stocked parts that really sold well and even then often ran out. The last year has hit the secondhand and trade market hard; the shut down last year coupled with GW being unable to raise production to fully meet increased demand over the last year and a half means a knock on to the secondhand market in being stripped out and prices going up.

As a result bits are popular, but very hard to get. Your best bet is googling as many sellers as you can find; searching ebay regularly; posting ads and searching forums and trading sites like facebook groups; barterdown forum; dakka forum etc...

IME if one is a bitz hound, patience is key. You need to scan all the bitz sellers regularly, both on ebay as well as their own online stores. Eventually one of the sources you frequently visit will end up having some stock of the pieces you are interested in.

Enabling notifications would probably help too, but I cannot be arsed with such a chore

Well, patience is not a Problem. I waited years for certain Models and till now i got 90% of the stuff I looked for. But I am new to looking for Bits and maybe I just didnt find the right place.

This is part of it, although even before GW put that policy in place a lot of bits sellers didn't have trade accounts. In some parts of the world, you needed a physical store to get a trade account anyway. For me, it was GW's move to limiting sales to geographic regions that was a bigger issue... Not being able to buy at UK or US prices killed the margin.

The move to fewer options in the kits and fewer wargear options for units was a big killer, as it removed demand for those previously high-value components that often paid for the rest of the sprue.

And if I had still been doing bits sales by the time GW moved to the current sprue designs instead of having everything laid out in neat lines, that would have been sufficient to encourage me to stop... The couple of GW kits I've built on the newer sprues were frustrating and annoying. Having to cut those sprues apart in bulk ... that way madness lies.

At the same time some of those new sprue designs result in some really outstanding performance in terms of poses and shapes and even hidden join lines. Whatever else we might argue about GW's approach to optional parts and poses, they are certainly hold holding back in terms of skill when it comes to slicing up parts for plastic casting.

Absolutely. While they're migraine inducing to cut off, there's much less wasted space on the new sprues - I suspect that's the result of a computer algorithm working out the layout rather than someone layout it out manually.

And the switch from multi-part, multi-pose models to 'Let's make the models we used to make in metal, but in plastic' has been impressive to watch. Takes some very clever slicing to make it work.

You say "impressive", I say "regressive".

I think you're conflating two separate things, there. Whether you think that more detailed, dynamically posed models are better or worse than models with more flexibility is kind of a completely separate issue to whether or not the models GW are churning out these days are technically impressive. They can be technically well done while being not at all the sort of models you want.

For comparison I don't see almost any other firm nor 3D printer firm making cuts like GW is making. Indeed most 3D print cuts are horrifically basic, but part of that is it being both a new skill (a lot doing 3D prints come from a video game background); but also because they are working hard to get high monthly outputs.

Still I've yet to see many attempting fully seamless joins and such that GW practice - at least on challenging organic models. Things like tanks and such can be easier to cut (barring one or two insane people who keep designing several meter tall models )
