It may be entirely appropriate that memories of a "House Custom" Dark Eldar vehicle have me questioning my memories and wondering if I imagined the whole thing.

What I recall (or think I do) is that you could make this vehicle according to instructions published online or in a White Dwarf (Remember when GW had modelling articles and conversion ideas on their website?). It was, in my memory anyways, produced by combining sprues from two different kits as a very simple and easy bash.

I recall becoming aware of this project on or about the time GW stopped offering catalogue ordering of individual parts and models from larger kits. Say, if one were combining parts from two kits and wished to do so without buying both kits. So, someone online was lamenting that this project would now be that much less accessible.

For the life of me though, I cannot recall the finished model, or the component sprues. I've totally failed to find any evidence of this online, particularly the assembly instructions. So this has me wondering if maybe I imagined the whole thing? Closest I've come is a model shown as part of the VDR rules in Chapter Approved 2001, but nothing else is available, save a few pics, particularly online. No details beyond that.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Or has my mind been shattered by the non-euclidian geometry of Commoragh?

Thanks for your time.

You didn't imagine it.
There was such a thing. I can't tell you what issue or publication it was in (WD/Journal-wise) as I unloaded a pile of those a number of years ago. It might have been a reprint of one of the chapter approved annuals (I'll have to see if I can dig mine out of storage).

The 'super-Ravager' from the VDR rules was called the Rampage.

Here's the Rampage, from Chapter Approved 2001 (lifted from the VDR in White Dwarf):

That's indeed the one.
Thought I remembered seeing it in one of the CA annuals.

Yeah; that's the one I found in CA.

I don't think it's the one I am thinking of from WD though.

Perhaps to remain an unknown?

Are you thinking of the Shadow made by Tony Cottrell? It appears in Citadel Journal 33 and White Dwarf 233.

Here's a couple of links to maybe jog your memory.

Cheers bud, couldn't "locate" () a copy online and my own scanned collection stops at 231 for some reason.

I really thought this would be an article about Dark Eldar brainwashing techniques...

Glad you found the model though!

I knew I half-remembered seeing something in an old CJ.

Glad your search was fruitful.

Damn! That is pretty cool. I recall something simpler, however; two or three sprues from different kits and done.

Something like the mail-order Ork Dread made from a laundry list of parts from various metal kits, but simpler.

This is cool though!

Stuff of Legends has some old Mail Order Troll magazines up, maybe somewhere in there?

I found the Ork-equivalent; the dreadnaught made from various metal parts sourced from other kits. I'd love to find the full how-to for that one.

But no luck for the Dark Eldar one.
