The remake of the classic MB game Thunder Road is now up on KS and seems to be steaming towards the funded goal.

Thunder Road: Vendetta is a rolling-board race with what looks like very simple mechanics. Sadly most of their descriptive text is baked into images, so here are a few:

$50 nets you the main game, which equates to the original, plus the mini expansion that introduces a bunch of new cards to provide new experiences/challenges as the KS progresses.

$145 gets the Chrome edition, which is the main game, plus all of the add-on expansions and stretch goals in one shiny chrome box

Cancelled?

As you now have seen, we’ve decided to cancel this current campaign. We are going to relaunch the campaign sometime in January. I want to explain our reasoning behind the decision and what we hope to achieve. But first, an apology and a thank you.

I want to apologize. To you, the backers, Dave Chalker and Brett Myers (designers), Marie Bergeron (artist), Jim Keifer (original designer), and the rest of the Restoration team. To be transparent, about a month ago, on a team call, the question was asked if we should postpone the launch. I replied with a firm “no.” I was concerned that delay would cause problems in other ways. I was wrong, and I should have listened to the team.

I also want to thank you. We appreciate your support, and that counts just as much as ever. Every time someone clicks that “back” button, it’s a vote of confidence. That means a lot. I am a huge believer in Kickstarter. This cancellation proves the point. Nothing gives us better communication with our fans and customers or offers us as much meaningful feedback as a Kickstarter campaign.

We heard you. We’re going to take the campaign in for a quick tune-up, and we’ll be ready to roll in a few months. Bigger, badder, and better than ever.

So, what are we going to do while we have it up on the blocks:

Revisit the Maximum Chrome edition box. We’ve got plans for an illustrated box that will appeal to folks who missed the art but will still feel deluxe.
Finalize the vehicle figures. We’ll have time to put in the “grit” and detailing so you can see what the finished pieces will look like.
Get more art done. You’ve seen some of the amazing pieces Marie has done. We want to show off even more.
Do some playthroughs. One of the biggest omissions in this campaign was for you to be able to see the game in action. We’ll get nice physical prototypes and be able to get those out to content creators and at PAX Unplugged.
Tweak the campaign. We’ll take another look at the funding goal, adjust the stretch goals, and put some finishing touches on the campaign page to make it easier to navigate and absorb.
Here’s the most important thing I want you all to know: This is a fantastic game. I just need to do a better job of letting you all see that. And that’s precisely what we’re going to do. So we’ll get back to work. And we’ll keep you notified as we progress toward the relaunch (without inundating you with constant updates). We hope you’ll join us when we hit the road again.

Yeah, cancelled.
