Hello everyone, looking forward for a competitive thousand sons list, this is currently just theory crafting, and any advice are appreciated.

Thousand sons supreme command
-low- Magnus the Red 450 (warlord)

Thousand sons battalion cult of time
-hq- infernal master 90 (relic: helm of daemons eye, pacts: fires of the abyss, glimpse of eternity, power: desecration of worlds, trait: seeker of shadows)
-hq- exalted sorcerer 100 (power: presage, empyric guidance)
-hq- exalted sorcerer 100 (power, presage, empyric guidance)
-troop- rubric marines (10, icon, soulreaper cannon) 230 (power: tzeentch's firestorm)
-troop- rubric marines (10, icon, soulreaper cannon) 230 (power: gaze of hate)
-troop- tzaangors (20, banner, brayhorn, blades) 155
-elite- scarab terminators (5, soulreaper cannon, hellfyre missile) 215 (power: doombolt)
-elite- scarab terminators (5, soulreaper cannon, hellfyre missile) 215 (power: baleful devolution)
-elite- tzaangor shaman 70 (relic: change wrought chalice, power: weaver of fates, temporal surge)
-heavy- mutalith vortex beast 145

Total 2000 / 12cp (-1 for extra trait, -1 for extra relic)

Tactics; the rubric marines hold backfield objectives, supported by exalted sorcerer each.
The terminators deep strike at objectives in flanks. The tzaangors, infernal master, shaman and the mutalith vortex beast goes for center of the table. Magnus the Red supports other units where most needed.

Secondaries;
- investigate signal (tzaangors)
- engage on all fronts
- mutate landscape (change for warp ritual if the mission has very few objectives)

CP allocation (17 during the course of game);
- 1 for extra trait
- 1 for extra relic
- 1x5 for great sorcerer (cast extra power)
- 2 for inhuman savagery (tzaangors reroll hits)
- 1x3 metaphysical focus (allows one cast after psychic action)
- 1 for unwavering phalanx (-1 dmg, reserved for terminators)
- 1 for warped regeneration (reserved for healing d3 wounds)
- 1 for masters of immaterium (reserved for ignoring perils)
- 1 for aetheric saturation (reserved for healing d3 wounds near mutalith)
- 1 for psychic dominion (extra dice on deny the witch) / or 1 for the malefic scroll (in the case the opponent does not have any psykers, 3mw smite)
- extra CP generated can be used on rerolls

Cabalistic points (max 20 per turn) allocation;
- 8 for psychic maelstrom (allows casting the same power twice, used on exalted sorcerer)
- 8 for cabbalistic focus (power cannot be denied) / or 7 for pact from beyond (automatic cast at minimum level, in case opponent does not have any psykers)
- 4 for malevolent charge (for extra d3 mw)

So, this is what I'm currently looking forward, I think it's a decent list with balance. The amount of mortal wounds it can output is amazing. What do you guys think?

If you haven't already seen it, your list is quite close to this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MJDeJ8kCWw&ab_channel=AuspexTactics

With occult termies being obsec now, a good strat seems to be putting bunches of rubrics and occult termies on objectives with cult of time. Remember that warped regeneration can also revive dead units, so you can get up to 2 revived occult terminators per round between time flux and warped regeneration.

I assume you say you have 17 CP because you're using the WC4 cabalistic ritual psychic action each turn for 5 turns.

Depending on your opponent, you don't have a lot of big threats on the board and magnus is likely to get zapped. Consider not running him at all in a list like this that is obsec heavy, as seen in the auspextactics video I linked. I think magnus lists need big threats in their face fast via crystal/duplicity/temporal surge cavalry/dreadclaw drop pods

Consider taking a few rhinos for your rubrics as in the auspex video, they have 5++ now and inferno bolters

I'm personally not a fan of tzaangors anymore. They used to be a great bomb but not so much anymore in my opinion

I wouldn't suggest baleful devolution, with a +1 to psychic tests I've computed it has an expected value of 0.82 mortal wounds per cast. I'd take something else, anything else.

athens scrolls are great for getting high WC spells off more consistently with exalted sorcerers such as presage. Consider taking if you drop the shaman and his relic

If you could I'd appreciate your thoughts on my own TS list: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/801491.page

Hey, thanks for the reply, the auspex tactics channel is one of my favourite. I counted the CP gain from every turn towards the total, your advice are good, but the list would had to be altered alot. I'd like to include Magnus, but I see your point of him being a bullet magnet. I'll have to look into the cult of duplicity more. Oh, and I will check your list too .
