What is your worst habit when it comes to building/painting/playing war games? Other than buying models before painting the ones you have . Mine has to be magnetizing. I'd rather just buy multiple models to fit different loadouts than save the money , or forgetting half of my models special rules until 2 days later

I’m usually the opposite. I over magnetize. Often doing up a lot of the options, only painting the main one, and the rest get shuffled to the back to collect dust and never paint. Might as well have just glued it on. You never get the poses quite perfect with magnets.

Now in the long run, it’s a good thing. Makes things more edition proof. But it’s a lot of work that only occasionally pays off.

I waffle too hard on color schemes.

Seriously. I've had six different ways to paint black for my Stygies in half as many editions. It keeps resulting in stripped paint.

I guess my worst habit would be storing things in unmarked white card boxes. You know, the type you store bulk magic cards in.
Makes it Hell to find things later on....

There's been a few cases where I've found a small square white box shoved to the back of a shelf, opened it, & wondered why/when I even got something inside it.

I can never stick to one army, I'll buy an army, paint it, have a couple of games then sell it to buy whatever the new release is.

Apart from the obvious buying too much...

Not always thinning my paints.
Starting methodically on a painting project then rushing towards the end to get it done.
Getting into a game that no-one else does locally.
Leaving it too long to change the water.
Too many projects on the go at the same time.

I spend ages working on stuff like terrain set ups and armies, play with them once and then move on to the next project. I need to spend more time playing with my stuff!

Also I let my desk become a collapsing neutron star of entropy.

This is a real problem. I’ve had sheets of scavenged insulation for over decades; plural, before I took a hot knife to them. At one point I think I had half a year’s worth of coffee cans sitting in a pile wanting to be turned into a refinery depot that we all knew was never going to happen.

Same, I've stopped doing that though. Pile of shame of unpainted magnetized arms/weapons says hi to me everyday .

And spending way too long painting rank and file. No-one is ever going to look at Ork boy #129 that closely to know he isn't painted as well as the warboss, but I'll know I didn't give him all I could give.

Super this... For me is is the odd bits and pieces or craft items, terrain supplies, paint, etc. that I pack into a big box and if I do take the time to write a bit on the box, it is not everything that is in the box so I go crazy trying to find something that I know I have somewhere... "Where the heck is that piece of brown felt?.."

And always the obvious, too many minis, and with a big 3D printer I have tried hard to fight the urge to print every great file I find - I do not always succeed...

This is the absolute best description I have ever read of having a table covered in unfinished stuff

Definitely this. I try and force myself to wait 24 hours before buying anything these days (as a 'cooling period'), because I super excited and then that new exciting thing becomes another box of unpainted minis..

Starting a project and doing as much of it as I can in one continuous sitting without stopping to document any part of it. Yup, that's about it.

Once worked 14 hours without a break on one hobby piece (got it from sketch of how I wanted it to go, to undercoated.)

I don't have the disposable income to buy too much stuff at once leaving me with a mountain of stuff to do. I don't lick paintbrushes.

I am slow and meticulous in doing mold lines and painting, in spite of always ending up at a tabletop standard at best. I also have a severe lack of project focus, and will just jump from one project to another without fully finishing anything. When everything is finally fully built and painted it will be several armies worth of stuff, but in the meantime even my main army is like 1/3 unpainted at the least.

I also buy lots of shinies and then don't touch them for years. It was only a month ago I pulled out my Deathguard from the Dark Imperium box I split with the girlfriend, and only got halfway through building that before I decided to take a break from it with the Chaos side of Shadowspear. This is on top of the fact that I just randomly decided to build an second Guard army during the summer and got to the point of building 90% of the infantry before deciding to "take a break" from it with the Death Guard in the first place.

However, I recently found a use for some of those old bottle caps, so I can never throw any out now.
