My first thought was that it is too early for an April. Now I have to live with this dreadful knowledge of this being a real thing

This could be quite the lore revelation. Yes the grim darkness of the 41st millennium is a hellscape of suffering, but it smells fabulous Unless they actually do smell like the things in there names, in which case yikes

The venn diagram of wargamers and those that burn candles with unspecified smells must be rather small.

Missed opportunity there. If there was a “heretic” scented candle, it would be perfect for burning.

I’m also in the WTF? were they thinking camp. The overlap of wargamers and those who use scented candles can’t be very large. Non-zero, but worth the effort? If the price point is low enough, I could see some of these a gag gifts. Also, depending on what the actual scent is. More likely to grab at a store where I could give it a sniff. No way I’m gambling on mail ordering something that might smell like hot garbage.

It's most likely that one of the merch companies GW is now working with produces these alongside loads of other stuff. Likely no-name factory products stamped with loads of random/various brand names and such. So they just provide the factory with the icon for GW for a bunch of things they normally import and import a selection of them and see how it goes.

Let's not fool ourselves, there are a lot of gaming clubs and stores that would benefit from better smell. If this does it, so be it. My money is on 40K shower gel next. Nothing says: "Hubby I love you, but you have to remove your filthy stench!" like Kharne's Axe shower gel, with the smell of freshly cleaned skulls in the morning. Technically speaking, soap is/was made from bones, so if there's one god that loves cleaning, it's Khorne.

I have sadly yet to meet a wargaming couple. The other half plays boardgames, sure. But not wargames. This holds if the wargamer is male or female (though oddly virtually all the female wargamers I know are yanks).

Is it wrong I'm mildly curious what these are like?

I like having a nice smelling house, doubly so since my teens are sweaty Neanderthals.

If they aren't ridiculously overpriced I'd probably get one- with the caveat I'd have to see them in person and give them a good sniff.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Wait, I get it now. These are a sneaky way to mask the horrible gamer-funk without being obvious about it.

Well played GW, well played indeed.

To properly mask it inside a FLGS, you'd have to cover yourself in them like a Sons of the Phoenix marine.
