im having issues replicating a paint scheme i like for my deathguard marines (heresy era) and am looking for some help. my problem is i do not like the white paint i have for them (vallejo white). if i use it straight it comes across as too white and i havent been able to mix it into a shade i like. i would like to find an off white color that isnt too beige or tan that i can use straight from the pot. i have looked at the gw site for their colors and their whites seem to be darker than what i am looking for. i have seen tutorials using wraithbone that have models with an end result i like but when i look at the color image on their site the swatch appears to be much more beige than in the tutorials. does anyone have a color they can recommend that may be in line for what i am trying to do. also this will probably need to be gw color as they are the only paint line that i seem to have any success in finding locally. thanks.
Formula P3 Menoth White Highlight might be what you're looking for (make sure you get MENOTH white, not MORROW white, which is just pure white). Menoth White Base is similar but somewhat darker.

thanks for the recommendations, but i am unable to find any non gw paints locally so those wont work for me. as for the video, i think the techniques may work, but the color choice is a lot darker than what i want. im looking for something like a pale cream. i do appreciate the link though.
Something to note/remember. We don't see colors as exact colors. We see colors by comparison. Your whites will be whiter is there is nothing whiter than it next to it. The moment you put something more white next to it you will see the difference.
By the same token, a yellow or tan off white will only appear yellow or tan if you put a cleaner white near it. And will look more white if you have darker tans/yellows next to it.
A easy test for this is to open a new word doc on your computer and then put a sheet of computer paper next to your screen. You probably never realized just how blue the whites on your computer screen are.
If you are seeing how tan/yellow the off whites are in the paint pot when sitting next to all the other whites, grab some darker brown/tan/yellows to use for the base and hold those 2 paint pots next to each other. You will get a much stronger sense for how white your models will end up looking.
These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
