So, this is being released next week, and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Now, I know next to nothing about League of Legends the game apart from the fact that they seem to be awash in money and that they like to spend a lot of that money in stunning animated videos and music, but I have to say, I'm really interested in this.

For one, as I said above, it looks marvelously beautiful. The animations, the colors, the painted-on look... it's all so beautiful, and strikes right in the middle of my likes.

But the setting looks also pretty interesting, and as I said, it seems to have a very Necromunda-like vibe (apart of the steampunkish looks and the magic, of course ^^), so much that I feel like you could probably port the series right into the Underhive with little changes.

Also, the blue haired gal seems to be LoL's "totally not the Joker/Harley Quinn" character, from the looks of it:

Well, first arc aire today (first three eps) and... it is really, really good.

Not only the animation, style and overall technical quality is at the same level of top tier animates movies (it gives me a similar vibe that Into the Spiderverse gave me, probably because it also is revolutionary) and basically the best I've ever seen in an animated TV series, but the story so far has been engrossing, and I didn't need to know feth all about LoL.

Very much looking forward for the following batch next sunday.

I'm currently through the second episode, and I also think they are really great. Bonus points to Avarsarala from the Expanse being one of the guards! I'd recognize her voice anywhere.

Huh. Was pondering catching this. I watched the... other game's anime (DotA?) on Netflix and was unimpressed.

Not entirely sold on the animation style, but I can put that aside for a good story.

For a moment there with the first music video I thought it was going to be Gorillaz, for the general style and, of course, the wind up gorilla.

I think I'll wait until all the Acts are out, though.

I know nothing whatsoever about LoL but the trailer convinced me to give this a try, and I'm hooked. Two episodes in and I'm really enjoying it. Really strong voice acting, well written and the art and animation style is fantastic.

I really, really like the animation style. A lot like cell-shading (think Borderlands) but it has other elements that make me think of paint.

Yeah, basically each still looks like an illustration, beautifully so.

It’s such a silly, small thing, but I love the Netflix logo at the start as a wonderful art nouveau jukebox.

I think it's the silly, small things that show how much passion goes into a creation. Like the body language. I don't know if it's the time, budget or passion, but I feel like the show had an above average emoting in the characters. A little bit more body language or shifting of the eyes.

And, my god, episode 3. I didn't realize you could fit so much trauma into a single episode!

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Still looking great, and Powder's going fast nowadays.

Good god, yes. The hits kept coming, and coming. It was brutal. And the voice acting, good grief.

The end scene, when the music starts and the "tunnel" is getting smaller and smaller, it made me shiver.

Also, I love how all characters (except maybe the brothers, but that's also for a reason) show a lot of agency, and whatever happens to them mostly come from their actions and choices.

Well Episode 4 is ramping up the chaos nicely.

Still not Jinx yet, but she is working up to it.

Well, this is being a hell of a ride.

Poor Powder/Jinx. She is both heartbreaking and utterly terrifying.

I don’t think the second three were as good as the first. We don’t really get to meet new people. We’ve got less of the original people. It felt much shorter, like less happened. It’s still definitely quite good mind you, it’s just lost the initial wow factor for me.

It's so, so good. Breathtaking animation, great characters and setting, visceral action scenes, lots of emotional punches in the guts. I've been recommending it to all my friends.

Thanks for recommending this show! I've never actually played LOL and know nothing about the setting, but this show beats all the current WH+ animations hands down. This one has an actual written story behind it, and it shows.

The visuals are an interesting mashup of Anime and trad CGI, and the animation itself feels very sophisticated, the objects seem to have gravity and mass which is quite rare for CGI animations in general.

Just finished watching ep4, two more to go..

The art direction of the show is amazing. Like, I fully enjoyed the DOTA show. The writing was good and the animation was as well. But it seems like RIOT decided to take their IP and go balls to the wall on it so much I've already watched it twice and am probably going to watch it a 3rd time before the last 3 episodes are released.

God.

Damn.

That was superb. I really love how Silco's portrayal went, all the way to the end.

Finished it, damn that was good. Far exceeded anything I expected from a League of Legends TV show. Seems like a setup for Season 2. Also hoping for a show focusing on a different show if they can do this quality again.

Give me a Bandal City show!
Spoiler:
Champions in the show:
Vi
Jinx
Caitlyn
Ekko
Singed
Viktor
Jayce
Heimerdinger

Those aren't even all of the Champions associated with Piltover/Zaun.

First three, really good.
Second three, good.
Final three, really good.

Definitely leaves some stuff unfinished, and as someone who’s not played the games it’s a prequel for its hard to tell how much of it is setting up those vs setting up a second season, which I’m told has been confirmed in the works. But yes, Strongly recommend this.

Second season is indeed confirmed to be in production already.

I am honestly amazed how good it got, and as a friend put it: "I think everyone was expecting the action from a videogame MOBA adaption. I don't think anyone anticipated the shakespearean tragedy".

I only knew the music video part of LoL, so basically nothing at all, and I was interested in the series just on the strength of those, because their animation an production values are always incredibly high. And I was expecting to see a fun spectacle out of this series.

What I got was... much, much more than I was expecting, starting with the actual quality of the animation, art direction and production values, which are even higher than I was expecting.

But now that it's "finished", I think the writing is the part that I've enjoyed most, and the part that has surprised me more. It is incredible how nuanced all characters have been, and how much of that nuance has shown on the series.

It is a series that has me feel sad as feth at the death of the main villain, FFS.

And the music. The music not only is really good... it's also incredibly well tied to the specific moments it plays in. As an example, they got melon-fething Sting to play the song that plays during the very last scene, after the aforementioned main villain's demise. And holly feth, it's haunting and on point.

Spoiler:

I love it, because it feels like it's Jinx speaking about Silco... but then, it doesn't. Then it feels like it's actually talking about Vi, about how she was always telling Powder she needed to be strong, how she had to toughen up or be eaten by the streets. How what she is today is as much her fault as Silco's, how much she hates Vi doesn't like her now and keeps calling her Powder instead of Jinx even though it was she who told her she needed to be tough, and even though Vi has changed, too...

So the strong writing is everywhere.

How dare you Riot. How dare you make me give a damn about your silly, toxic MOBA game. I quite literally just started watching it because I like the Animated shows Netflix has release over the last year. I just popped it on for background noise while I painted and now I'm obsessed.

Damn you all to hell. The painted background with the 3rd animation was absolutely stunning. The voice acting was incredible, as well as the motivations of the characters. I'm fairly certain I shouldn't give a damn about Silco...but I do. As for the music? Jesus tap-dancing Christ, I cant stop listening to the soundtrack.

Holy feth, yes. And the specific scene where thay plays, with Jinx over the tower with the smoke signal and her.... past, shoulder to shoulder with her? Holy feth.

Also finished watching the 9 eps. So that was S1 eh?

All in all, I liked it quite a bit. Good storytelling and far better character dev than I've come to expect from most animations.

Only thing which I personally wasn't too fond of were some of the music programming choices. The type of music such as what's the series title track, not a fan. Also wasn't feeling the "edgy music video" scenes in few of the battles. But all in all, good job!

PS: Still not even remotedly interested in the actual computer game series
