It's just bad. You're paying 5 points for -2 AP, when that same 5 points can get you +2 S, -1 AP, 2 D.

I don't need to do the math for it, you need twice as many to go through against multi wound models, less likely to wound.... just worse.

So I have to ask, have you built any of your models with one, and if you have do you actually run it, ever?

Considering a basic choppa is -1 AP and +1 attack, the power stabba is completely useless in my opinion. If it gave +1 strength and had -2 AP maybe it would be worth something and have some limited use against factions like Sisters of Battle or Eldars on nobz, but for some reason, they were not updated to be at par with other power weapons.

battlescribe and if memory serves (at work no codex present) the power stabba is actually 5 points and the superior big choppa is 3 points so its actually more expensive points wise to take the worse weapon.

Wow I totally forgot that, I think on boys units both are 5 points but on nobs the big choppa is 3 points, the final nail in the coffin for the poor stabba.

I have like one model with a "power stabba" before it was even given a profile since I used it for a Painboy's Urty Syringe stand-in during 5th ed when they were built into Nobz units instead of a standalone HQ/elite choice.

But yeah, 100% agreed, it's just another GW rule writing quirk ever since the "no model, no rules" policy went into effect, I think they saw it as too visually distinct from choppas and big choppas and wanted to give it a different profile, even though no one really cared if it did have a different ruleset. For it to be meaningful in anyway, it should have just been for free or like 3 points for a power sword profile that also gives you an extra attack with it like a choppa. Even then it wouldn't likely be taken but at least its a straight upgrade over a choppa.

I am surprised they did not make it the best weapon profile with like +1str ap-3 D2 since you only get one per box that way people have to buy lots of nobz boxes to kit them if using only GW models

Thankfully the rules writers don't usually think that far ahead and what I've noticed is that its usually the ranged and melee weapons of stuff like SM/Imperials where you need to buy multiples of a box to really properly kit out a unit moreso than Orks.

Yes GW, make them the most OP thing ever, I definitely won't just cut the hand off a nob pistol arm and glue a knife on it, preferably something that looks really stupid like those tiny knives deathwing have....

theyre clearly supposed to be our powerswords but they are, as usual with orks, unusually inferior.
Didnt get the +1str for powerswords, costs more than a bigchoppa, and doesnt do anything fancy. Dafuq? They have ALWAYS been garbage for some reason.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

Not inferior, just different priorities.
If I was spitballing changes, I’d make it like the gsc weapon that instantly slays things if it rolls above the wounds if there’s any unsaved. Maybe -3 ap on it or somethin.

Eh, at that point, I'd rather it do mortal wounds on a 6 to hit or something instead, rather than have extra die rolling for something that won't come into play very often.

Mortal potential would also set it apart from PKs/Bigchoppas, which are right now just high AP // budget 2d weapons to set them apart respectively.
Powa Stabba is neither, nor is budget, nor does anything different.

Especially since i dont think orks have a single mortal wound mechanic in melee for basic wargear type stuff or unit rules.
Tankhammer doesnt count, melee weapon in a friggen shooty unit that self-terminates lol

Right? While it's thematic, I feel like 17 points for a melee upgrade for a ranged unit that is heavily incentivized to stay still and not be engaged in combat due to paper thin defences is really counterintuitive. They don't even let you make multiple attacks with the tankhammer despite it being capped for how many you can take in a unit. If you could at least swap all their rokkits for a tankhammer you could have a very amusing, if cost inefficient suicide squad for MW spam.

Oh if i could run a full squad of tankhammers i totally freaking would.
Squad of 5, jump out of a trukk or something (Trukkboyz? forget if they can do that), slam into something and BOOM hehehe

It'd be as close to a squad of Bombsquigs i'd ever get in normal 40k, where i just gotta charge you and auto-damage-self-terminate

Tankhammer sprinkled in is just dumb on so many levels. Not only does it make you wanna move closer....with a Heavy weapon unit thats tissue paper...but its one hit and dies right away? Yeah its enough mortals that usually it will just flatout kill most characters but when the hell is that gonna happen lol

Yeah. For a race that's all about getting stuck in and being often suicidally inclined in disregarding safety, it boggles me that we don't have more self-destruct type abilities or units. I'm shocked that we don't have an auto explode vehicle strat given that they took away Flying Eatbutt. At the very least having a full tankhammer unit would be hilarious and scary for opponents. It's characteristically Orky which unfortunately is something GW doesn't seem that fond of nowadays.
