Hey rules tinkerers, I've made a model and now I need a datacard for it.

He's an Imperial Guard Hero on Sandworm for my regiment the Eolian Desert Fighters. I'll struggle to get him to 'count as' anything with the Imperium keyword, so probably can't use him in Matched Play, but for Open Play, a custom datacard is called for.

Looking to the Tyranid range for inspiration, I reckon he's probably about the same size as Trygon, with a similar carapace, so he can take movement, strength, toughness, wounds (including getting brackets) and save from that. He probably has less attacks though. BS and leadership comes from the dude riding him, ie a Guard Character.

So the basic top statline could be
M9" WS3+ BS3+ S7 T6 W12 A5 L8 Save 3+

So he gets two bolt pistols for sure and then probably one bite attack at Sx2, -3ap, D3, -1 to hit, then tail /claws at S user, -1ap.

Also Character keyword and.... I'm hesitant to come up with any special rules but open to suggestions. He's leading a platoon of sandrunner cavalry (count as deathriders, or rough rider when we get rules) - so Orders to them could be an option, or an aura to make them fearless/fight better.

Any comments and suggestions very welcome.

Might I suggest Inquisitor Karamazov for Matched Play?

Yes! I love it... except the multi melta, it all seems to fit quite well. I wouldn't mind just changing the meltas to bolt pistols, and paying the same points... and he fits in any detachment! I knew there was a reason i posted it up here and asked. Nice one mate.

Sod it, i'll glue a multi melta to him!

Seems like he should probably have a deepstrike rule.

For matched play, have you considered using an aux detachment to grab a random unit from another faction? Maybe something like a bike captain or dreadknight or war suit. You could also use the ambull rules.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Cheers yeah, I was thinking about the deepstrike rule, represent him tunelling, after all the rider has breathing gear...
Ambull rules kinda fit but they are a bit smaller, and no rider. I could lift something off the the datacard though.

I'll consider anything with the Imperium keyword for matched play. The dreadnight is actually a great shout, if just left with no upgrades. Base size is comparable too. I'll seriously consider that.

Ok, you can't have a guy riding a sandworm that doesn't reference Dune, so If you add deepstrike rules, you should add in something equivalent to a teleport homer to represent a "thumper" to summon the worms to a specific place.
