How do!

So currently watching the fourth episode of this run. And I’m bloody loving it.

First, it’s a return to Old Who’s one story over multiple episodes style.

The acting is solid. The plot is….well, it’s one to pay attention to. Not convoluted as Who has been in the past? More…..they’re taking their time without wasting any time.

This is the best Who has been in a long, long time if your ask me.

I've never been able to watch too many Dr Who episodes at once, I find the show too melodramatic and it gets a bit tedious for me. I couldn't even watch too many David Tennant episodes, who I thought was a great Doctor.

I've seen a couple of the Jodie Whittaker episodes over the last few years, didn't enjoy them. I'm not sure if it's because of the person playing the Doctor, or something else. I think I found her companions a bit annoying too.

I might give this series a go, the format sounds like a change of pace at least. Might be worth watching the first episode at least and seeing how I get on.

Any rumours about who the next Doctor is going to be? Whittaker isn't leaving until end of next year so I guess it'll be some time before the new one is officially announced.

Tried, gave up after Ep1, its the same old same old, needlessly complicated and you know it won't stick the landing

Since Dr Who returned to our screens in 2005, I've enjoyed this and the last season the most.

Not looking forward to Russell Davis returning as show runner.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

I think you’ll need to do more than the first episode.

Plot wise, it’s holding its cards close to its chest. At first, this means a lot of “erm….huh?” moments for us and the cast. But rather than bad writing, it’s deliberate. This isn’t 40 minutes and done Who. This is slow cooker Who.

Maybe but its the streaming age, slow cook isn't advised

I've been watching and enjoying it, episode 3 was a bit hard to follow with all the jumping around though.

Love the new villains too, they remind me of Cenobites (family friendly ones though).

When it’s episodic, kind of? But wait for it to complete then binge it.

I'm liking it too. Chibnall should have lead with this kind of approach, I think.

I found John Bishop somehow didn't seem to 'fit' at the start but he's grown on me now. Vinder's plotline is a nice touch too - we get a tour of the post-fluxx universe.

The special effects seem to be taken up a notch - the reduced series length might mean they have a higher-per-effect allocation.

So yeah - like it and looking forward to see what happens.

Been watching it on and off, to be honest i'm actually bored with it. I think it's time the Doctor went back into hibernation for a decade or so.

I wouldn't mind a new Blakes 7 revival to be honest, because...some Federations...need taking down.

Mic drop, CSI miami intro song...all that jazz.

Curb stomping in the Eye of Terror!

As someone who didn't mind the Jodi Whittiker era, I found this extremely promising who fell in love with series when it was rebooted:

I’m….dubious.

I don’t mean to sound snobby about New Who, but I was lucky enough to be part of the Davison/Baker/McCoy era. Whilst I’ll always be happy he brought it back, I never quite enjoyed the RTD era.

Too much “Dishy Doctor” and doe-eyed companions for my tastes, and some of the stories were absolutely awful (Slitheen, Half Human Daleks With Accents Unknown Outside Of Stage School), the Absorbalof are but three).

I get why it’s popular, and I’m certainly not saying “how dare you!” to anyone who did enjoy it,

Just….I think it was too radical a departure for me.

Psychic Paper however is an abomination.

Well, quite a bit in that list you can level at the old series. For every World War Three there's A Twin Dilemma and a The Power of Kroll, for every Absorbalof (Love and Monsters is quite a good episode if you take the costume fail out of it) there's a Myrka. And Kamelion was an abomination. And there was a tsunami of RADA accents throughout the series, but an extreme example would be Resurrection of the Daleks

RTD - he's always said he won't go back. I guess the BBC went to him and asked "Bring Back the Magic" and his price was that it was done through the Bad Wolf production company.

Which is why I’m not dunking on it.

Some of New Who is superb. Empty child for one, Family of Blood for another (though still not keen on the pocket watch thing).

I just prefer the story structure of Old Who. And no “Dishy Doctor” stuff. That’s just not my bag.

Flux, and the second half of the previous season, has been the best Doctor Who since it left our screens in 1989. I honestly didn't expect Jodie's era to suddenly bounce back like that and don't see the need for Russell to "save" it.

I don't think Russell can harm the series, but not looking forward to yet another young girl trying to pole vault into the doctor's pants caper, with lots of over the top silliness.

Must we really go through with it again?

Whilst I clearly share your skepticism, we can hope that RTD carries the whole torch, and not just the bits he wants to.
