Subject: Recommendation for first Gaunt Summoner Daemons

I'm currently in the process of putting together a Disciples of Tzeentch army which includes the Gaunt Summoner. I was wondering if anyone here has any recommendations as to what daemon unit I should be able to drop into combat using his Book of Profane Secrets. Choices are as in the poll, but I'll restate them here:
5 Horrors of Tzeentch
10 Bloodletters
10 Plaguebearers
10 Daemonettes
6 Furies
My current list infantry-wise already has a unit of 10 Pink Horrors, along with two units of Tzaangors, and I'm aware that I can choose to summon anything on the fly, but as I don't have one of every type of daemon unit yet I'd love to know what you think is a good place to start. Really, things that I've been trying to consider are:
1) If the unit is something a bit different from my own infantry and might plug a need in the front lines that I don't already have, OR
2) A unit that might be good as backup should the Summoner/Leader units become endangered by flanking.
Personally I'm marginally considering Plaguebearers or Daemonettes over the others ones, the former for their staying power and as something of a roadblock, and the latter for their speed and slightly scarier melee characteristics. That being said, I'm open to Bloodletters as I love the models, and Furies I'm not really too clued up on. I'm less enthusiastic about the Horrors as five does not allow me to equip them with the fun wargear and I'm slightly burnt out on building and painting the ones I have. Thanks in advance!

The wargear on pinks isn't as important for such small squad anyway and is pretty damn good roadblock(better than PB). Though with rumoured changes to plaguebearers those are starting to look more appealing.
Def not bloodletters. Those require some serious buffs to even remotely work and even then suck. You are tzeentch army. You don't have those buffs that require certain khorne models and subfactions.
IMO either horrors or plaguebearers.

Thanks for the reply! That makes sense with the Horrors. I'll put another squad together and see how it goes in the meantime and wait out and see how plaguebearers fare with the rules changes.

5 pink horrors is 25 wounds your opponent has to chew through.

Which isn't quite same as 10 models though. Narrower screen and less models for objective controlling. Wounds isn't everything in aos.

5 models have more lenient coherency than 10 for initial placement, then the number of models starts to INCREASE as they take damage. A 10-man unit that takes 5 wounds is down to 5 models. A 5-man horror unit that takes 5 wounds is up to 10 models, and needs to take a further 10 before the number starts to go down. By the time any of the other units would be wiped out the horrors are still sitting at 10 models.
From a purely number-of-models perspective horrors not only win out but do so by a huge margin. The only instance when horrors do not come out on top is if the unit takes no damage, in which case enemies are most likely not on the same objective to begin with. And even then horrors can shoot from such a position making them still more useful.
There is no instance in which 5 horrors is not the better choice.

It sounds like pink horrors just are the way to go. Maybe later down the line I might get something else just for the shock value, but horrors I can do.

Call me a purist, but I could never justify summoning Plaguebearers in a Tzeentch army.
Besides, when the five Pinks die, it'll become a 10-man unit and stay that way for a bit.

Luckily for you, being a purist in that case is also the best option you could possibly pick.
