Wonder if this has something to do with Warhammer World sinking into literal gak.

Quite possibly.

So unless they push the Battleforces up to this weekend they're not guaranteed for pre-Christmas delivery.

They have been posting those for the last few years, nothing to do with Nurgle blessings on their HQ and everything to do with the fact that shipping is always delayed right before christmas. If you want to order yourself or your loved ones stuff online, do it yesterday, it might arrive before christmas.

Presumably they are. More curious is custodian/gsc box and nurgle book.

Though ordering straight from gw isn't requirement for new items.

These dates would be more useful if GW didn't take 2 weeks to actually ship orders.

Two weeks? Wow that is quick for GW North America. They still haven't processed orders from over a month ago whether shipping directly to store or not. Currently GW cannot literally tell where an order is until it has shipped. So, guess what!? They say they cannot cancel the order and process a refund until the order has shipped!? That is how bad things are.

The GW North American warehouse operation is all kinds of screwed up right now and they have a huge backlog (their words not mine) from their warehouse meltdown after supposedly implementing a new fulfillment system. Anything ordered from GW North America and you will be lucky to see it before Christmas.

Needless to say I am not surprised they have set the cutoff date to Dec. 1 for the US as this is a further affirmation of how bad a shape GW currently is in. This despite being in a country with one of the most well developed shipping and transportation networks in the world and with a warehouse located in the city with FedEx's largest hub and one of UPS's largest hubs.

My advice to anyone who cares to listen is do not order from GW unless you absolutely cannot order it from somewhere else right now. If you have to order from GW, be prepared to wait over a month for it to be delivered. Of course, that won't stop though GW from taking your money immediately.

Yeah, seconded to that. Dec 1 as a cutoff is actually wildly unrealistic for the US store at the moment. They specify 20 _working_ days for orders already (going back several months), there's only 17 from the 1st to Xmas, and they don't meet that 20 day window anyway. With the holidays, if you order now, don't expect to see things until January.

As a kicker, this is their canned response to inquiries (well, the relevant part of a page long email dealing with various possible issues you might be having):
We are currently experiencing a higher than normal volume of emails, therefore there may be a delay of up to 7 working days to reply back to you.

7 _working_ days just to a respond to an email.

Having worked for a Very Big Brand, I find it unsurprising. Every company in the world hires as few cs reps as physically possible, so when there's even the slightest hiccup, they get slammed with e-mails and phonecalls. I imagine GW has a lot fewer agents than that company did. If you really need someone to look into your situation, always call. If the agent tells you they can't do it, they almost certainly can't do it (no one wants to have to deal with an angry customer, and all customers are angry when you use the word "can't"). Your best bet is to be polite, don't vent frustration, but ask for the supervisor.

Yeah, I made the mistake of ordering the newest Aeronautica Imperialis direct, took them almost 3 weeks to process and pack it. By the time I got it I had other projects i needed to concentrate on. GW can keep their raffle tickets, feth ordering direct

2nd of December for Oz?

Does that mean that the pre-orders for the 4th and 11th won't get sent out this year?

they'll get sent, (but might well not arrive until next year as they end up mouldering in a big pile of Xmas shopping at either Royal Mail's depot near Heathrow or in a customs warehouse in Australia)

I'm dealing with this ATM.

Have an order for a few things (character, 2 units, and a codex) and the new Lieutenant. Per customer service the normal stuff is supposed to be in the "next" store shipment and the Lietenant has a 120-day lead time. Ok cool I don't care about the L that much. But I placed the order 3 weeks ago, the store has received multiple large shipments, and I'm a little antsy to make progress on the new units.

This morning I said F it and reordered everything from 3rd party (not including the L) and about an hour later GW emails me that my order shipped. Of course...

When I look at what shipped it was the L and not the normal stuff. WTF...guess I will be returning the codex and the character since I should be able to use the 2 troop units.

Good thing you can take advantage of GW's no questions asked return policy. I believe if you have a Warhammer store near you, you can actually return them in store.

As for me, since GW claimed they couldn't cancel the orders and refund my money because the orders were already in the fulfillment queue and they couldn’t stop the order at that point even though they couldn't promise it would ship this week other than to say soon (spoilers the orders still haven't shipped), I just had the credit card company process a charge back and the money is already back in my account.

It will be interesting to see if GW's fulfillment system really is out of control to the point that the orders will still ship despite the charge back.

I really try to order direct from companies I like to support them more but GW makes it impossible. I'm not paying 20%%~ more to get something 3 weeks later. If my local GW has something on the shelf and I need a weekend project I'll grab it there. Otherwise I go to ebay, amazon, etc.

Likewise. And only 3 weeks? Thats not terrible at all; I've currently got a rather large and costly FW order thats been sitting in Pending status since October 4th. What is that, like 40+ working days? Things were bad in 2020 but they seem even worse now.

Just a quick math note: if you usually buy at a 20% discount, then MSRP is not 20% more than you usually pay, but 25% more. $40 is 20% off of $50, but $50 is 25% more than $40.

Just gives a bit more of a reason to hesitate to buy from GW.
