Hello guys,

As you all know GW has been very stingy with the amount of Rippers which they pack into Tyranid boxes making it very difficult to build several bases of them. Despite this I want to build those swarm bases anyway but I need to fill the bases with appropriate stuff. The Alien franchise introduced eggs from where the face huggers hatch. This could also work very well for 40K. So what kind of objects would represent eggs best? I was thinking about nuts. Green stuff could also work but my molding skills are not so good so I want to stick with objects instead.

Thoughts?

If you wanted to fill up space on the bases, you could try using the blip/base/whatever they are bits from the genestealer sprue.

This! Those bits are great to add the alieness to the base.

I am not sure what you mean. Tyranid boxes also included these weird, flat, tentacled organisms with mouthes. I used them already to build "infestation markers" by using two of them on a 40mm base.

Any ideas for building eggs or other alien stuff?

They did some in White Dwarf years ago (IIRC they were Fat Bloke's), where the eggs were made from pistachio shells covered in varnish and a liberal application of UHU glue.

Thanks mate. What kind of UHU glue? They sell afaik two kinds of liquid UHU glues in Germany:

1. Clear and less viscous.
2. Yellow and viscous.

I remember the one they said to get (WRT drool on Tyranid minis) was to get the cheapest and stringiest one you can find so then you can tease it out with a toothpick after it starts to cure a bit.

In my experiences dried pees makes for very good tyranid eggs. Just don't get them to wet during painting as that will trigger sprouting potensially.

Dunn if you have got the glue yet, but North of the Border just posted this video below

In it, he uses a product called Fabri-tac to create Venomchu's drool. Looks perfect for what you were after.
