I've forgot what i was saying in this post (it kept erroring a few days ago)
But yeah Angels of death really got my blood pumping & making me want to progress on my Blood angels successor chapter
i've got the Indomitus box & 10 Sang guard shamefully waiting for my attention
I'm thinking what can i add to it i'm actually one of the few looking forward to the Space marine battleforce
So atm i'm debating turning the judcicar into a Librarian
Slapping a Jump pack on the Chaplain
Selling/trading the Outriders for something else not sure what yet
may get a Storm speeder so i have two to play with
I know its being called a Fail speeder & i know most of my choices aren't the "Meta" thing to do
but i want fluff over curbstomping
Anyhow thoughts & suggestions more than welcome
P.s can they hurry up and give Primaris proper jump packs

Every space marine army should have a Redemptor Dreadnought and benefit from melee oriented chapter tactics.
A librarian dreadnought (preferably converted from a FW model) is another fun and unique choice for BA.

gaahh i'm so trying to stay away from Dreads even though the FW models got me looking at my wallet like
Just from a "fluff" prospect of gotta go FAST if i could drop pod them, then Deffo get a Redemptor as a priority...is it weird i'm being fluff over meta

People play with what they think is cool versus what is good all the time, it's not weird. Libby Dreads can make themselves fly so you don't need a drop pod for them. I will say that I find it enjoyable to have a collection of models that isn't super one dimensional in play style for casual play which is why I would offer up a Redemptor as a platform that can both shoot and fight well. You also need something to babysit back objectives anyway.
In the current competitive meta, most BA list rely exclusively on jump pack units (Van Vets with SS/ LC, Sang Guard with axes, DC with TH) with some character support so I would say that focusing in on "fluff" jump pack choices isn't going to take you to far from the best units.

Thank you, this was a far more balanced response than i was getting when i said i kinda wanted the Christmas battlebox (On the Blood angels FB group) i know it has a fair bit of shooting in the box but i was going to upgrade the normal intersessors unit into Vanguard vets anyhow.
My fluff idea is..its a Primaris born chapter..with limited First born Blood angels (in the traditional red) but for game purposes those will still count as my successor chapter

Sounds like a fun idea. Similar to that,, I've seen folks build "Sons of Baal" combined forces of BA and successors inspired by the invasion of Baal and play them with the standard BA rules. It's a fun hobby project and looks awesome on the table.
The Christmas box is an awesome starting point for rounding out your troop options. A box of phobos troops wouldn't be a bad investment either. All of the space marine troops can serve a useful function. Heavy intercessors are probably the hardest to justify in a BA build but hey, you are going to have opportunities to set up games where they can contribute effectively. Not all your opponents will be running strong meta lists and it's nice to have the ability to power up and down your own list to produce a fun game for both players.

With the stuff from the Battleforce you'll have about half a Company of units to choose from which will be a lot to paint but in the end means you can swap out units every few games and try a load of different lists.

Aye thats the general jist of my idea..though i have lost all the fluff i'd made from random generators so that'll be a fun hour or two re-doing all that.
& ontop of that i'll be using IMPcat to mess around with some paint schemes as a bonus

haha that's my arch nemesis..PAINTING gaahh haha but options is always good to have than have an army shoe horned into one play style that can't adapt
oh and as a added bonus..i found the old model lamp bought for me years ago
& it Still works so now i got two lamps to set up..so deffo not lacking in things to do while i wait for the Battlebox to drop

Having a set list can be fine if you know exactly what you're doing with it but at some point something will come along that will be a hard counter.
Case in point my friends 8th Ed Daemons and 9th Ed Necrons. The Daemons by all intents and purposes had a solid list with a good split between Infantry for control and Monsters for smashing but when it came up against a Guard list that had lots of armour and artillery it evaporated and I won nearly every single game against them. The Necron list is equally solid and I struggle against it with my Deathwatch, however, another friends Thousand Sons might not struggle so much with their ability to spam mortal wounds and shrug off Damage (1) weapons more easily thanks to All is dust.

A decent airbrush helps immensely as far as getting the priming & basecoats done.
After that it's just detail work.
