Hey,

I have an old RT dreadnought from the 80's that I never painted in the 80's and i woudl like to use it for my chaptor now.

What is going to be a good base material to build it up to current model height? the RT stuff is just super small compared to today's stuff.

first of all do you play normal marines or primares, for normal marines a flat rock or industial struckter torn down will make good some hight, for primares it may be not enough

full compagny of bloodangels, 5000 pnt of epic bloodangels
5000 pnt imperial guard
5000 pnt orks
2500 pnt grey knights
5000 pnt gsc
5000 pnts Chaos legionars
4000 pnt tyranids
4000 pnt Tau

Milliput epoxy putty. You can sculpt it into shape as a nice bit of a rocky outcrop when it cures it’s hard and can be drilled for pins and will hold glue well enough.

Just paste some filler up from the edge of the base to meet the ‘stone’ and throw some flock around it. Classic 80s basing technology.

Old guy is a bit shorter than the new dreads, and that’s just the old box dreads. Contemptors or the primaris one are even taller. Depending on how you base the rest of your army a few layers of cork, or even 3/4 to an inch of insulation board to make a hero rock for him to stand on.

II mix of all TBH - I have a bunch of oldhammer pewter stuff, older 'first born' as well as new Primaris so it will be a unique mix. I am not terribly tied to the space marine/primaris lore so mixing them up - as units - is what will happen. UltraMarines successor, probably the tome keepers because i like the scheme, and if they don't play out ill just adapt to a different successor.

Anyway - Just looking to get them close so it looks OK and i don't have to deal with any 'modeling for advantage' issues. I will be mounting on a modern size base.

Yeah - This is exactly the problem - its like a baby dread....

I was thinking about cork but wondered about stability long term.
