Since its winter out, my family has been playing some orky mini games on our snow terrain and that gave me an idea to start a Gorkamorka campaign on an Ice Planet. (I can't believe I couldn't find this on the un-named gorkamorka site, they've got everything there).

Here are some of the rule tweaks I have come up with so far.

Thrusting in the snow: Truks will start thrusting on a 3+, bikes will start thrusting on a 2+ (as opposed to having a free thrust move). Traks make thrust moves as normal (though the driver will step have LD penalties for driving tests as described below).

Turning while thrusting: -1 LD test for driver
Swerving out of the way to avoid a ram or collision: -1 LD test for driver

Movement over an icy river or lake by a vehicle: If a vehicle ends its movement on an icy lake or river, roll a D6. On the roll of a 1, the vehicle goes straight through the ice and is immediately crippled. All warriors aboard must successfully pass an initiative test or will go out of action.

Lore For Regular Gormamorka Campaign: An asteroid impact or super volcano blots out the sky with so much dust that the planet goes into a new ice age. Hang on to your stockings, it's going to be a merry holiday season this year on Gorkamorka!

By the way, have you ever checked out Gelida the Frozen Expanse? That might be right up your alley!

Great idea, and I look forward to more thoughts on this.

I think you would want to create some special terrain rules for icy ponds, lakes, rivers etc. You could also add some visibility rules due to blowing snow, or snow being kicked up by vehicles like Da Deff Island Skirmishes (Varient GM with boats on the Unnamed Gorkamorka site) Wake Markers where the markers block LOS and vision.

Wouldn't you call it Morkagorka?

One rule that could be fun is maybe boyz don’t take a hit when falling off into the snow (it’s nice and comfy), and potentially footers permanently are at a -1 to hit since they can suck behind a snowdrift.

My Sons alternate between calling it Ice Morka and Snow Morka (I guess they are both Morkers).

Good ideas all around so far. I think I'll hjave to scour my old 40 K book for ice world terrain rules next to see what else I can find for inspiration.

Any thoughts on rules for additional campaign dynamics?

Like hypothermia, frost bite, engines freezing up?

I see Hypothermia, Frostbite, and Engines Freezine being in an alternate post-game injury or vehicle damage chart.

Crossing ice covered lakes, ponds, and rivers should be dangerous terrain. Snow drifts, deep snow, and such should be difficult.

Perhaps a vehicle boosting into a snow drift has a chance to smash through it?

It has been a while since I played Gorkamorka, so some of the specifics of the rules are escaping me.
