I’m messing around with paint schemes for my Admech and am hoping to do a colored metallic and white pearlescent but I’ve never tried painting like that. Any of you have recommendations for what paints to try for this or know of any good tutorial videos? Thanks

Green stuff world have a big range of coloured metallic paint and they are good, I own most if not all of them.

For Pearlescent effects you can buy Pearl medium to mix with paints or I believe another method is to paint clear inks like (tamiya maybe??) over a metallic colour

Also, check out the examples of where green stuff world have sprayed their candy inks over their metallic white paint, it’s a very cool effect

Oh Canada!

Fine art / craft stores sell interference powders, which can be added to acrylic paint. They'll give you a pearlescent effect that reflects a specific colour when hit directly by light but otherwise doesn't obscure the base paint colour.

For metallics, a good reflective silver with transparent candycoat or ink is time consuming but looks the most realistic. Vallejo sells a "Metal Medium" that I found mediocre for actual metallic looks, but would work well as a pearlescent.

Never heard of interference powders but they sound interesting

Green stuff world also sell metallic filters that you paint over a colour to do. Similar thing

Scalecolour do a nice variety of metallics. I usually use Vallejo paints in general but their metallics are rather crap.

If you want something a bit special however it may be worth looking at Alclad metallics. I use them on non-40k projects, but if done correctly you can get a proper mirror-finish.

Colourshift paints are great metallic paints and provide great effects but are not pearlescent nor can you apply Other things over them for different effects

Also they work best with airbrush

I have used GW Contrast over metallic silver to obtain a cool colored metal look.
