So I've generally never been a fan of the softer plastic that 'Star Wars Legion' models were previously made from, so I've largely avoided them, but I'm very curious as to which are now being made of hard polystyrene and come on sprues.
Does anyone have a list handy as to which those are?

From memory ; All of the CIS stuff other than Dooku.
All of the Republic stuff other than Phase 1 clones, Obi Wan and Rex.
Iden Verso, Kallus and Inferno squadron for Imps.
The only Rebel stuff is Clan Wren and Jyn I think, maybe Cassian and K2.

All vehicles are HIPS though most dont come on sprue and the crew maybe PVC.

Also moved to correct forum...

I think it depends on the release wave of the vehicles - the latest stuff I've gotten (spider droid, AAT tank and clone tank) all came on sprues. The crew for the two tanks was also HIPS.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

Jyn is PVC, Cassian and K2 are the ones in plastic as they came later with Clan Wren.

For Imperial vehicles, the Rebel space bus and the Imperial gunship are fully on sprues including their crew.

For Republic you should be able to add Yoda and the Wookiees from the latest release wave. Not that I have any, but since they're the latest release.

If you want an army free of PVC, currently Separatists are your best choice, as ingtaer says, and Republic have at least a large selection, even if Phase 1 clones are the notable exception. Empire and Rebels can't really make an army without the use of PVC models. Presumably the Shadow Collective, whenever it's released, will be full hard plastic.

That's unfortunate. I'd be tempted by Imperials and Rebels if they were released/re-released in HIPS

Yeah, I'd be happy to see redone Imperials and Rebels in HIPS, however unlikely that is.

I would also be very interested in Rebels if they moved to hard plastic, especially if they took that opportunity to add in additional heads for alien races on the sprues. Doesn't feel quite as Star Wars only having the occasional alien dotted around, at that point I worry they just look like generic fatigue wearing army men.

I use this table to determine which models are hard plastic, I've been trying to exclusively collect that particular material as I have no interest in the soft plastic.

The only thing on this table I feel is incorrect is the Priority Supplies Battlefield Expansion, while the parts are not on sprues but instead in individual bags they are the same plastic as the vehicles.

I feel Republic is very much still doable though, Phase 1 Clones can be built all-HIPS plastic using the Phase 1 helmets in the "Republic Specialists Personnel" set mounted on Phase 2 bodies. So long as you also wanted some Phase 2 troopers in your collection of course otherwise it's a more expensive addition.

As well as the Republic the Shadow Collective is another all-HIPS option, currently a more limited selection of models to choose from but going forward it is extremely unlikely they'd get any soft plastic additions to their range.

Hope any of this is useful, the hard plastics are leagues above the soft in terms of detail and crispness. Aside from the generally less ornate (or "Bling") designs of Star Wars versus Warhammer 40k I'd call them comparable in terms of casting quality and ease of clean up, mould lines in particular being very consistently shallow and easy to remove.

Cheers
Chris

I think there's a reasonable variety between the one or two alien squad members in the various boxes and the specialists box, in line with the human/alien ratios you see in the original trilogy. So it doesn't bother me all that much. But more is better, especially if it's optional, and kits remade in hard plastic could feature a variety of heads and let players decide how they want to build their rebel force. That would be the ideal as far as I'm concerned.

I'm quite happy that the Swoop Bike kit has six alien heads for two riders. I don't know how much work is involved in fitting them on rebel bodies as I haven't progressed to that part of my rebel collection yet, but I intend to use those heads to get more variety in my troops, especially to avoid having my Corps units look the same.

That and the Occupier which should be listed as hard for the tank itself and soft for the tank commander and pintle mounted weapons.
