As someone who rarely has the time to actually play the game but does have the time to read/listen to audiobooks, what upcoming BL book/s actually have you excited? As a Guy Haley fan I'm really looking forward to the Astorath book and to the 4th installment of DoF. I'm also looking forward to The Successors anthology as I think successors don't get nearly enough attention. Here's to hoping they don't screw us over with story selection

Okay- I'm not a huge BL reader- I've read the serialized WD version of James Swallow's SoB (Faith and Fire, I think?)- it wasn't bad.

I read Abnett's Eisenhorn trilogy and thought it was really good.

I read Requiem- another SoB book- also not bad, but I think I liked Swallow's book better.

And finally, Cult of the War Mason. "GSC AND Sisters!" I thought, "How could I go wrong?"

Spoiler:
NOPE! A few platoons of Guard and a Commandery of Sisters nearly lose the planet until 5 space marines show up and save the day with twenty pages or so to go!

And that's it- that was my entire exposure to BL... So I took a while to respond.

But WOW- Danie Ware's Triumph of Saint Katherine! First of all, I've wanted to read a Sisters story penned by a woman forever. I'm not saying men can't or shouldn't stretch and try to write from a woman's perspective- I'm just saying there's a certain kind of authenticity that a woman brings to the page, and I'm hoping for a 3d character; I know she's limited by the genre, but I'm looking forward to seeing what she can bring.

It doesn't sound like we'll get a lot of details about the Witch Cult of Mnestteus, but any little shred would be something I've waited for since the Second ed Dex- I've ALWAYS wanted to convert the modern day descendants of the cult who have hidden in the shadows since the dark days of the Age of Apostasy. Anything I can use will be gravy!

The story also sounds like great research for the Triumph angle in my Crusade campaign.

Also looking forward to Adrian Tchaikovsky's Ascension Day- when I found out he was a credentialed sci-fi writer whose works had explored alien-insect culture and psychology, it made me really curious to see his take on the GSC. Again, I know the genre prevents him from getting too deep, and that some aspects of a GSC may be things that GW would prefer left as vague allusions rather than have them fully explored... But I think I might still get something I've never seen before.

Just to second the comment about Adrian Tchaikovsky. He is (in my humble opinion at least), one of the best SF authors working today. Children of Time and Dogs of War are both excellent -- as are many other of his novels.

He is also, as it goes, something of a 40k fan, as evidenced by his twitter, where he often shows models he's been painting. Hopefully we should see something really interesting and fun. I just hope he wasn't too constrained by the BL editors.
