These days, necron vehicles seem to be piloted by 'crons that are hardwired into the machinery, but what about prior to biotransferrence? Would the open designs of things like anhilation barges have made any sense prior to the pilots being made of living metal? Presumably they did have piloted vehicles because otherwise it seems odd to step backwards into having them post-transferrerence, and conceivably it might have been more effort that it was worth to purge every necrontyr era vehicle from existence after biotransferrence. So are there potentially necrontyr tech vehicles laying around somewhere that don't require their pilots be fused to their seats? Any thoughts on how those designs might look for flesh and blood pilots/passengers? Something like a ghost ark, for instance, doesn't seem to make nearly as much sense when you can't (comfortably) dangle all your passengers from robot maintenance hooks.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

The Ghost Ark is a development/antecendant of the vehicles that were first used to collect the dead, and latterly scoop up Necrontyr for biotransperence.

I suspect, but cannot prove, that many of their existing vehicles are likely adaptations of stuff they used before Biotransference.

Certainly they’re noted as having been incredibly advanced technologically before Biotransference, so it seems likely their Quantum Shielding is not Necron, and it’s that tech which allows their stuff to appear relatively unarmoured.

But ultimately we just don’t know.

I would suspect that the Necron vehicles are mostly similar to the vehicles they had when they were the Necrontyr. They are said to have fully mastered the limits of technology 60 billion years ago, so I would actually be surprised if there was anything beyond the minimal design changes with their vehicles to accommodate their new bodies.
