When the marketing only goes on about how they "fight for the future of humanity" and "The armies of the Emperor rise up to grind these vile enemies to dust with their armoured boots" and how the sticker set lets you "honour...the supreme and devoted warriors who live each day in endless warfare." it really does somewhat give an impression that seems to go against how there's meant to be "good guys" in the setting and the Imperium is the worst possible outcome.

"The Imperium of Man stands as a cautionary tale of what could happen should the very worst of Humanity’s lust for power and extreme, unyielding xenophobia set in."
But little boys, "Show your loyalty" to the champions of our fictional xenophobic regime by getting swept up in addictive purchasing habits.
What an absolute joke.

Corporate PR 101. When GW wanted to jump on the diversity bandwagon to get some brownie points and potential new customers, they did it. I doubt GW gives a toss about the odd far right whacko that hangs around their community - as much as the strange rise of far left wing wargamers (Sigmarxism and all that) wants GW to go crazy about it. When GW wants to expand revenues by flogging stuff directly to children - this and Warhammer Adventures they'll do it and tone down the universe. It's all about the revenue and profits. Although I'd argue that they don't need to - me and most of my mates got in 40k in the 90s because it was so dark. I wish companies would stop treating kids (10+) as idiots who can't handle some moral complexity. Kids media was so much better in the 80s/90s when it allowed darkness and complexity.
For what it's worth you can easily have 'heroes' fighting for the Imperium, even though it's a poopfoot of an organisation.

Exactly this. Back in 1989 I saw the figgies for the first time and was like "These are bloody cool looking". Then I read RT and was like fething sold on this universe. It was because it didn't dumb it down for kids that we kids-early teenagers loved this gak. Now its all happy and rainbows when they want to sell to 'kids'. But we all know most people who buy this will be adults with disposable income because I bet you these stickers packs will be $5 each minimum. Back when I collected panini stuff packs where .25cents. GW 'inflation' and price rises are a fething joke.
The nuGW artwork is terrible. Their CGI artwork is some of the worst product they have turned out in years. Now some old Blanche, Goodwin or old Mark Gibbons artwork would be a nice suprise and might get me to change my mind. But that would require effort and this doesn't reek of effort on GW's part.

It's a licensed product. Panini will set the prices, not GW.

Yeah, it does look like a mean case of corporate dissonance.
Funny the EmpireTMCR is mentioned. Lindsay Elis did a pretty great video talking exactly about this:

It's not for kids really though is it? It's for the 20/30-somethings who want to 'relive' their childhood with stickbookers and other toys (like the literal action figures that keep getting churned out).

Panini means sandwiches . In this case it's just the surname of the company's founder.
It's also the most important company that produces stickers in Italy, to the point that stickers and Panini are almost synonymous here. They also produce other things, but they're mostly known for their stickers, especially football related ones.
I had no idea they existed outside the country.

YUP I used to get transformers, He man, GI JOE and others in panini sticker books. The books where free and the sticker packs cost .25c in 85 or so in Canada. They where great books and we used to trade the extras like hockey cards to get the ones you needed to finish off the pictures.
