Those old metal ogryn… use some for my inquisitors henchmen as bodyguards and some for ork warbosses and man those were killer models…

I remember back in the days of 3rd edition when you could swap out an Ogryn's gun for an Ogryn Close Combat Weapon (+1 Strength and +1 attack for 2 ccw's back in the day). It's one of those options I wish would come back, as it made a rather unique unit for the Guard. Also, next door to my FLGS there was a jewlery shop, and of of my Ogryn's CCW's is a sterling Sliver chainsaw necklace I got there. Good Times, good times.

Yes, I know that Bullgryn are a thing, and that you can make close combat Ogryn now, but it's just not the same. For years I have been saying that you should be able to blend any and all options from the Ogryn/Bullgryn set for a mixed unit. Want 5+ guys with Slab shields and Ogyrn guns? The kit has that as an option, but not in the rules.

I'm really curious to see how good they are to abhumans in the guard dex. I've always wanted to do more with ogryns and ratlings. If the 9th dex gives me a reason, I'll definitely build an abhuman auxiliary detachment.

I modded some ogryns with ccws using various bits, with huge mauls and chain fisty axes, still in this form today. Yeah, that was very cool. Not a fan of the newer regimented bullgrin type ascription. Last I recall was trying to figure out how my old dudes would fit in without heavy mods, so they got relegated to retinue types…
