Has anyone ever used or heard of acrylic spray paint? I ask because the spray paint at a nearby hardware store is listed as an acrylic spray paint. Now I am not a spray paint expert by any means but I always thought spray paint was either enamel or oil based. Reading through the information on the back it also list it as being oil based, which is what I would expect. Anybody have any insight or experience with this?

No, you can get acrylic sprays. Most people using sprays generally use acrylic because it dries faster. Graffiti cans, automotive paints, hobby paints, of course. I'm not sure what you mean when you say oil based as well as acrylic. This makes no sense to me and I can't read the Japanese lettering on the link.

Acrylic doesn't always mean water-based.
But it is confusing to see (oil-based) on the Acrylic paint.

Only reason I used acrylic (Water-Based) spray is for base-coating big terrain pieces without melting the foam.

I used 2 options in the past for that are:
Pressure Garden Spray Bottle filled with my water-based paint mixture.
And
Preval Spray Unit also filled with my water-based paint mixture.

Garden spray worked good, but it is very rough.
Preval Spray Unit was awesome, misted mixture of paint or glue nicely.
