I'm very tempted to make the Steam Tank army, and probably with Tempests Eye, or maybe Greywater Fastness. Something like:

Steam Tank Commander (Hawk Eyed CT for +1 to wound bubble, Amulet of Destiny?)
2 Runelords
Gotrek Gurnisson

1x20 Irondrakes
2x1 Gyrocopters (for sneaking around to get Savage Spearhead and maybe an easy Conquer, and perhaps horde control)

3 Steam tanks for battleline.

Is this just garbage? Seems fun to try but not sure is has real legs in any competitive sense though it doesn't give up any extra VP (or is Gotrek a Priority Target?). Guess I can proxy it...Steam Tanks are hard to find for a decent discount.

Like everything it very much depends on what armies in your locale are. At my flgs one of the biggest problems people have with Matched is that their games tend to be one-sided victories or defeats... with the same army. It goes to show how broad the power scale is.

At any rate, this isn't super strong but it is no pushover either. Ways to improve would be a battlemage for casting wildform on Gotrek, taking the book artifact to turn a runelord into a wizard for casting mystic shield (and another unbind at +2), maybe emerald lifeswarm if you can fit it.

Ooh excellent ideas!

I don't have a Battlemage, but I could drop a unit of Irondrakes and the Gyrocopters to put in my Celestial Hurricanum.

Hadn't thought of Wildform but having Gotrek as a Monster could pay in not getting stomped, and he could Roar someone or Titanic Duel, that would be pretty awesome

Wildform is +2 to run & charge rolls, the spell to give a model the monster keyword is metamorphosis, which all wizards get with the current GHB. But yes, a hurricanum would be a great add; the MW shooting is great (especially on unleash hell, since it is not a hit roll), and the +1 to hit aura is fantastic.

Florida

It's a rock-paper-scissor type army. You will own slow armies that have little ranged, but armies like Idoneth will walk all over you.

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains

Not quite that simple, as Steam Tanks are quite resilient in melee and can still shoot just fine. Objective control is the big weakness.
