It looks like Antenocitis Workshop has shut down for good. The main company site is down, and the Twitter and Facebook have been removed. Apparently the company has gone into liquidation.

It's a shame, they had a lot of great miniatures and terrain pieces. I've reached out to them to ask about any plans they have to sell the IP or make STLs available to people who purchased them previously but haven't downloaded them yet (I backed mine up, but I feel really bad for people who didn't), but I haven't heard anything back yet.

I'll let people know if I get a response.

Ouch. They have suffered setback after setback over the years but I hoped they would keep trucking on. I guess even selling STLs wouldn't cover their costs :(

Edit: There goes our other premium MDF manufacturer..

I think I ordered two minis from their Kickstarter—although I may be confusing them with Paulson Games—that I will sadly never see. Oh well. I hope some other miniatures company hires them for sculpting or design work.

Shame though I pity customers out product paid for moreso than the company. I really thought their designs were a breath of fresh scifi air 15 years ago.

Jed's Facebook page is gone too.

This was the last post from 2 months ago from KS:

You all know how we got here so I will not go over old territory again.

There is very little progress on this project at this point in time.

For those that are not aware I (Jed) have some medical issues that limit the amount of work that I can do wearing fume masks and that severely restricts the amount of resin work that I can do. I am the only resin caster here.

The resin that I am casting is restricted to that from store orders to keep the business ticking over (in what can only be described as “difficult times”).

Also, at the current time, we cannot afford the production resin costs of casting the Efreet as business, in general, is terrible and costs have risen significantly over the last year and more.

You will have seen other companies struggling due to increased costs, the largest MDF kit manufacturer in the UK just announced it was closing for that exact reason. Many others are struggling, COVID, Brexit, inflation have all pushed up costs, especially material costs… the explosion in 3D printing, the change in marketing within the industry – there are a lot of factors that make trading today extremely difficult.

This is not an excuse, it's just a statement of fact.

I would like to remind people that they are able to swap their Efreet pledges for STL products whenever they like if they wish to do so but it would be entirely fair and accurate to say that that is the best alternative that we can offer you at the moment.

With the significant increases in our material costs and the general global troubles with Covid and the disaster of Brexit on our European business.… not to mention a bloody and senseless war in Ukraine – anybody who tries to predict the future is a tad foolish.

So, when will the situation change?

I do not know.

At the moment we exist on a month-to-month basis that revolves around trying to make enough money to just stay afloat. We’ve dodged a lot of bullets.

I wish that was not true, I wish I could say otherwise, but I’m not going to lie about facts and as such, I can't make any predictions.

Sorry,

Jed

That's really rough, I've bought a fair bit from them over the years and felt like most of it was great quality and great value.

Sad to see them go.

That's unfortunate. I've bought quite a few of their Vehicle-STLs and those were fantastic. Here's hoping they will at least be able to maintain their digital catalogue going forward.

The Ukraine war has definitely had an impact on supplies of all kinds of goods. Even just its effect on the cost of living crisis in the UK will be a big hit to small businesses because they tend not to pay great wages, even to their owners, already. :(

But a company that manufactures almost anything will be hit especially hard by the increase in energy costs, and of course Ukraine is a major supplier of timber and MDF too.

I have a small business, brexit + covid + war has been an absolute nightmare in terms of impact.

It's now a case of selling down stock at 50-60% discount and even then with very limited success. Postage rates to the USA spiked, EU sales completely dead, UK sales drying up as more people lack any form of disposable income.

The conditions are exactly right to run this sort of business into the ground, even if everything is being done right.

Imagine doing a kickstarter in 2018 and instead of delivering the 82 resin models over five years (casting, say, just one per month) you instead disappear from the internet

"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... Ahhh jeez, I have quite a few of their mdf kits still in boxes in the build que from one of their sales a while back and now with the website gone so are the build instructions for these kits. Due to the complexity of some of them, these are going to be nigh impossible to assemble. They could have given some warning to allow people to get the resources they needed before nuking the website.

If anyone has the build instructions for:

-Kobe Cow
-Hac tao tattoo
-Data Trust
-Somp Pharmacy

Please do share!

I may have some of the build instructions for some of the stuff I built a couple years back on my hard drive somewhere if anyone is in my situation...

If you Google "antenocitis workshop kobe cow instructions" and go to the images tab you can see the cached versions that Google still has. They are lower resolution samples of the original but should still help

Best get them before Google loses them.

There is a guy on one of the Infinity FB groups compiling everything we can find on google drive here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CRXzf2ya0T24F4MrdPvfqcAhsyaaAJdn?fbclid=IwAR1rhAmB22Bo6HojetkKI-M0V8Qa29Yxyuy4euXSW3cfiKuDoNzlftNIDY0

I'm hoping that the owner resurfaces at some point and makes everything available for download.... I'm sure he has a lot on his plate right now with his business going under, lets give it some time....

Some of the buildings are actually quite similar to ones I already have built (whiskey jacks vs hac tao) so using those as a general guide might help to.

I really should make sure I have all the build instructions for everything else I have boxed and unbuilt from other companies too, in case any of these other companies disappear.

Wow, talk about in before the bell. i have bought loads of terrain from them over the years, much of it for infinity and 40K.

I was wondering why my last order took over a month to get, that explains a lot. i have 2 of their very unique terrain mats made for infinity that nobody else has anything like. the last one was the one i ordered-the ariadna outpost just a couple months back. both were great designs

They had some great stuff, sad to see them go along with DUST studios and secret weapon in recent memory. IIRC secret weapon cited some of the same production/staff issues and DUST manufacturing being based in HK also cited the shipping/lockdown/cost issue.

3d printing also seems to be the future of the hobby. several friends at the FLGS have printers and they are constantly printing new minis to build up the collection of terrain and minis we have for various game systems.

If they're planning to (attempt to) sell the ranges pulling online instructions etc is probably necessary as all the digital 'stuff' will be part of their assets

but as was said above more warning would have been good (assuming there wasn't any on the websites that have now gone?)

I remember Antenocittis being in a very fragile position for some time now and I believe they have spoken about it several times in past.
Its really unfortunate to see companies that served us for so many many years just vanish.

Yeah, 3d printing is the future for terrain... just bought a couple of 3d printers myself with intentions to start churning stuff out.

That said, I am still rather fond of these MDF kits, putting them together with some good music, whilst getting high on PVA glue is an experience I find to be quite therapeutic. And whilst they might not be as detailed as 3d printed stuff, with a good paintjob they still look pretty darn good. Just look at that warsenal range, its stunning. (why no uk supplier of that stuff?!) I think the blocky more simplistic look of them works quite well in contrast against more rounded detailed miniatures too... I mean its the miniatures that are the star of the show, the terrain is just the stage/backdrop.... and when you have too much detail on a gaming board all over the place I think things can start to become a bit messy, too much for the eyes to read and focus on... So I do hope the other companies still in business stick around for years to come.

Yes unfortunately. Jed did offer store credit for STLs (which I took advantage of) as right after that campaign completed pretty much everything started going wrong. The biggest being their resin mold maker leaving for a better paying job (which you cannot blame a guy for) in a different industry and it's been pretty much "how do I keep the lights on" since then.

I have found that I like getting MDF for things that are supposed to be made of wood just because it tends to look better. I print everything else.

Bit of kick for their KS backers. I’m owed a fair bit form their US-IMF kickstarter that was supposed to deliver in Jul 2018!

There’s a few people complaining as Jed posted his latest update about swapping for stl files, but then ignored messages from backers trying to switch. He also posted in the comments that if the worst came (which it clearly has), backers would receive nothing as the digital IP would be sold off.

Real shame, they did some fantastic stuff.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

I know KS has essentially written an agreement by which backers really can’t go after them for lost funds. Is there anything in there that prevents backers from going after the creators who fail to deliver?

Not really no. There has been some success, however, in writing a State's Attorneys General and having them go after the company. Won't do much for a US backer and a UK company though and the ones they have gone after have been pretty clear cases of them wasting money on other things or no real intent of delivering vs something like this.

Money. Litigation costs money and unless individuals are backing for tens of thousands each then it isn't in their best interests to throw more money at lawyers for a slim chance of getting pennies on the dollars at best back. Admittedly it's been a few years since I loomed at the TOS but I don't recall there being something preventing backs from going after delinquent wannabe creators. The big change a few years ago was them explicitly changing the TOS from creators must deliver (which they obviously never enforced) to creators must either deliver or explain why/what happened.

There is nothing legally stopping you go after KS creators, the big question is whether you will win or not, but it will cost a lot of money with solicitors fees etc to find out, the chances of getting anything substantial back is very slim and it will most likely cost you more than what you lost on the actual KS, even if you are awarded anything by the courts, the creator needs to have capital otherwise its all just IOUs, also trying to get your money back from a failed KS where the money ran out etc will be harder than a creator who spent the money on hookers, coke and fast cars, as you ticked a box knowing that you may not receive any goods, Its one thing a project honestly failing and another thing being taken for a ride and scammed, which the courts will take into account.

It seems to have been a limited company, so assuming it's actually in the process of being wound up, it's unlikely that suing the company will get anyone what they want. If it does have assets, then its actual debts (rather than KS promises) will get paid from their sale.

Here on the West coast of the US. All the smart money people in my group stopped buying anything from the UK due to shipping costs. This includes KS and retailers shipping direct rather than through a US source. If as a group we redirect spending $1,000 per year from British companies to the US (or anywhere reasonable) then how many purchasing cells like this would it take before an impact is felt by UK companies?

Paradigm for a happy relationship with Games Workshop: Burn the books and take the models to a different game.
