Hey guys,
Welcome to another project thread. This time about a project that came out of nowhere for me.
I was reading some Nurgle lore the other day. I happen to really like Nurgle, and as far as chaos gods he's my personal choice. That or hashut.
But where other people see the jovial grandfather grinning for bringing joyus growth and contagion, I prefer the darker image of nurgles forces.
I always imagined maruaders of nurgle to be sickly looking, but also wiry and strong. Clothed in scraps of fabric, with mutations and pustules across thier forms. Double chins all around, though.
They may be wiry, but thier still followers of Grandfather, and he does make his children blessed.
So when I scrolled on from that Nurgle lore and saw a post about someone's new box of Guttippas (the basic troop choice for Kruleboyz) an idea started to germinate.
One of the other things I have been doing lately is sculpting. Or at least, I've decided to try, after years of thinking I would only be rubbish at it.
So that's another thing this army will be for me, an experiment in taking things slow and applying advanced modeling techniques. And further practicing sculpting.
Lore wise, these guys are set up in a swamp in Ghur. After the battle of the burning skies and sigmars closing of the gates to Azyr, many human cities and tribes were left behind.
One, was this tribe of humans (name tbd) who lived as nomads in a swamp equivalent in size (in my head) to the size of a state like Georgia. In the mortal realms, ecology is supplemented by magic, hence the size. They supplied trackers to sigmars armies in Ghur.
Anyway, Nurgle sees a new plaything, and a plague starts ravaging thier entire tribe. Boils and a wasting of the body.
Then the toad appears. Small and insignificant looking, on a stump in the middle of thier village. Except that it's eyes have 3 pupils each.
The village shaman takes it as a sign, and says that the sick must lick the toad to be cured. So they do, and slowly mutate and evolve into, well, Nurgle aligned maruaders controlling a vast area of swamp and fighting alternately with the kruleboyz and whoever else wanders In.
This is my first miniature of two I did as a first time conversion, and I plan to iterate and improve from these two.
