hello everyone I’m a poor 40k fan. I can’t wait to talk in forums and post some of my creations, But I am currently working on just a proof of concept cardboard thunderhawk gunship.

A thunderhawk is over a thousand points and not normally fielded in anything outside of a massive game. With poor hammer you should look into papercraft 40k vehicles to add to your marines

You an find most designs for free online, 4chan, or reddit

I get that although I was kinda bored and wanted to try to use the cardboard I had laying around so I thought I’d make a gunship even if I couldn’t use it in regular play but thanks anyway and I’m new so it’s weird for me cause I’m not really used to replying

This is social media and you're introducing yourself my dude!

Social media is a great way to get inspired in this hobby - you follow blogs of other artists (I have a blog on dakka for the past 3~ years of stuff I've painted!), see fantastic work on instagram and take screenshots of color schemes and techniques, youtube for tutorials and battle reports, Pinterest for artwork, facebook to organize local events, twitter seems to be mostly Age of Sigmar but they have a lot of folks but I'm not a fan of it. I like reddit a lot for information - one of my favorite things about the terrainbuilding reddit is that the average skill level is 1-2 years into the hobby so it's a great resource for new artists.

Much easier than creating your own site and hosting it is to use social media to show off your artwork and get helpful tips and how-to guides. My entire skill in this hobby is from looking at other's work and trying to learn what they did to create that result.

Welcome to dakka!

Welcome to Dakkadakka. If you want more specific advice on the cheapest 40k stuff you can get, you could ask around in 40k discussions or something. Papercraft is good, messing around with cardboard is good too, just to get used to glue, hobby knife, etc.
