I'd like to see what you guys use as a proxy for the Vindicare
My current best bet is - https://www.ragingheroes.com/collections/kurganovas-kst/products/karmina-noxx-elite-sniper-kst

Sorry, can't show you a picture as the models buried somewhere deep in storage. Too much work to dig it out.
So you'll just have to use your imaginations.

He started life as one of the original metal Stormtroopers from 2e. The ones with the berrets.
The plasma gunner specifically.
All I did was neatly remove the plasmagun (that took some work btw) & replace it with the Vindicares rifle.
He's painted up in the medium Grey with light Grey dry brushing & muted red berretI used on the rest of my Stormtroopers at the time. The gun is flat black with some highlights. The lip of his base sports a dozen+ tiny yellow check marks. One for each character he's put down over the years.
(Not sure why I originally decided to go with check marks vs the typical l/ hash marks)

Both the conversion & paint job are good. But in the 25 or so years since I did them my skills in both areas have increased considerably....

Like I said though, it takes some real work to carve away 1/2 that metal plasma gun.

I'm not a big fan of the current plastic Vindicare, both the old metal ones are good though (I have all 3 ).

I see that the Vindicare Assassin from the Warhammer + subscription is already appearing on Ebay. Will be interesting to see how much they sell for. If you can build him without the scenery attached might make a suitable alternative to the current model. Seems to be pointing downwards though so would look a bit weird if you place him on ground level.

EDIT: Looking at the Sold listings on Ebay (UK) a couple of the Assassins have already gone for £60 plus. One even went for £125! Unless the seller accepted a lower offer on that one.

Looks like the people buying these models didn't realise that a one year subscription to Warhammer Plus was "only" £50, could have got the model thrown in with the subscription.

Speaking as someone who'll buy that Vindcare through ebay etc....
I don't care that it's $50 via GW. I don't want their app, I don't care about their animation, and I don't to deal with having to cancel the subscription before it auto-renews.
So I'll just buy the model 2nd hand.

I do a lot of assassin conversions, it's kind of my happy spot when I'm tired of line infantry.

Here's the latest vindicare, just a Mordian with the long rifle from the Empire Handgunners (best sniper rifle around IMHO).

A sniper from the Cadian command sprue is my stand in.

That would be easy, but I prefer something that looks akin to the vindicare

Man Sized Target did some amazing Van Saar assassin conversions.

Eldar or Dark Eldar bodies could work as well.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"
