Hi all.
I've been playing 9th once a fortnight since release, so I don't know if I fall into 'casual gamer' category, please forgive me if I get any of this wrong...

But... I tried out 1200pts of World Eaters last night against a friends' Tau. Drop Pod turn 1 with 10 Berserkers - make the 9 inch charge, wipe a unit of infantry, consolidate 6 Inch into another infantry unit.

Turn 2, Red Butchers make an 8 inch charge (thanks chaos lord with violent urgency), smash another unit of infantry, consolidate into a devilfish.

61 str 6 attacks turn 1. 26 str 7 attacks turn 2 from Termies. Didn't even use the plus 1 strength strat with exploding 6s.

So guys my question to you all - have I become jaded using my poor Admech and DG, is this just because I'm excited about a new army, or are World Eaters gonna steamroll certain armies?

Warnings and advice welcome!

I love my World Eaters, they've been my main army for 20+ years. I'm snapping up any and all information I can find about our Codex when we eventually get it.

But unfortunately, I think you just got extremely lucky with two unlikely charge rolls.

The damage output that Berzerkers and Red Butchers have is insane, but we've lost the built-in reroll to charge (via the old Icon of Wrath), which is big. It makes deep strike charging a lot less tempting, even with Violent Urgency, so I see myself more likely to use Terminators as a deep strike shooty unit first and melee unit second. With their improved durability and buckets of attacks, even a small squad can lose a couple of guys and still be a credible threat.

I've played many games where my opponent tries to do a first-term charge out of drop pods and fail. Even with rerolls. Those are the kind of games that put them in a bad mood and I inevitably destroy them.

You seem to have had one really good game and are very excited. Being excited is good, but temper your expectations. You will play a bunch of games, and fail first turn charges, and get obliterated.

As for your question. Will World eaters steamroll everyone? Maybe. We'll find out once the Codex drops and people can test it.

I love World Eaters so much I have two armies - one 30k and one 40k!

But I'm worried about what they're about to lose in 40k. We've already lost Champion upgrades.

Hi.
I totally understand that my first game with them was based on a lucky turn 1, so would you guys usually reserve drop pod until turn 2, so the Rhino, deep strike Terminators and Drop Pod are all pushing up at the same time?
Obliterators felt OK, I took two of them, but probably under estimated the impact of 24 inch range. I also split them up, I think keeping them together would have achieved more. They aren't quite as scary in shooting as I expected.

I'm playing Necrons next week, I think the Silent King will make an appearance. I'll update with how I get on.

If you play World Eaters, you at least have hands down the best theme song of any 40k army.

What do you consider to be their theme song? If you mean the old Bolt Thrower 'World Eater' track - I'm not mad on that one myself...

This just says World Eaters to me...

Lower level points and poor planning is why that happened not bc the army is amazing. Zerkers are strong yes but BA can do this too. The opponent needs to learn how to screen better for your Drop Pod. What you also did was a high risk high reward, what if you failed the charge? well you dead lol.

I to do like WE's fyi and played them almost all of 7th (Wasn't real WE but I painted them and played them like that). I even made my Heldrake and Knight a WE (I used the Lord of Skulls for my knight, such a good kit) link to the pics below.

Well if you have no taste you have no taste.

The track you linked is about Berserk, from my understanding.

I like World Eaters and wanted to have an army ever since CSM 3.5 dropped.

I was too young at that time to have the money for an army and now the models are too dated and options are too few. I'd like my World Eater Chaos Lord on his Juggernaut, tyvm.

I'm eagerly waiting for their standalone codex and what it will bring.

Hopefully their codex is good. They got White Dwarfed for now and it's.. yeaah. On par with some of the lower standard white dwarf dexs.

You solve that problem by not playing games with people who're brainwashed against using Legends.

I'm very excited about them being released, but I'm disappointed that I can't put the Red Butchers strat on a Terminator lord anymore.

Mate, as soon as World Eaters drops, I'm sending off my DG to the farm upstate, and getting a proud WE force to fill the gap. Already painted up Chaos Knights and Khorne Daemons to go with the Khorne That Was Promised.

I am looking forward to picking up the World Eaters codex when it comes out to see if it is the Chaos army that I want to build. I think it will either be World Eaters or Word Bearers (I also really like Possessed and they may actually be good for once), so I want to pick up and look at both codices before making a firm decision. But the idea of Angron and new Berzerker models is definitely very appealing to me.

I'm terrified of the potential for mass Flanderisation.

If they update the Khorne Daemonkin supplement and throw in more relics, Angron and Red Butchers then it shouldn't be too far off the mark as a codex.

Heck...chuck in an updated Kharn's Butcher Horde as a side gimmick as well.

Yes, I am looking forward to the WE release.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

How does everyone see WE playing?

I think the temptation would be to make them a fast attack close quarters army but is we that as an EC niche.

I think I’d like to see WE have an array of options for brutal weaponry that only a madman would think of. With a high risk high reward angle

You joke, but I'd love some of those. The Berzerkers used to be able to ride on the side of a blood slaughterer and it was great.

The old Berzerker Terminators from FW were cool models and I wish I had grabbed some back in the day.

Well, you might want to head over to Bolter & Chainsword and check the leaked image of Angron and new Zerkers.

Also, it seems to include new Cadians.

Mods: no intentional forum rule breaking on my part. If there is more ignorance than intent.

They're a cool faction but tend to have a limited play style, although I agree blood can come from any source they want to get up close and personal. Hoping they get a few new units alongside the new sculpt berzerkers and Angron.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

Suppose I might as well pop it in here too.

Angron confirmed. Bezerkers confirmed. And what looks to be melee cultists of some kind. Crap-o-vision is not my doing.
