So, due to the big box and a still lingering love for some specific Marines I decided to build myself a (not so) small HH force. After a little deliberation I decided on Thousand Sons, especially since I like the look of their 40K kits and immediately thought I could build Sekhmet from the Scarab box and modify the Rubric for some specialists (ended up as Khenetai in the end).
Tactical and special/heavy weapon squads I have figured out, but I'm looking for some advice regarding Contemptors, Veterans and Command Squads.

I have two (unbuilt) Contemptors and plan on purchasing another when it releases. I currently consider going with one Osiron and two normal Contemptors, but I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to go all Osiron? I already have quite a few good melee units and the increased cost as well as the loss of dual ranged weapons are probably not worth it - does anybody have had good experience with multiple Osirons?

At least one Veteran squad is something I want to do, but should I go with one big squad (10 Marines) or are several smaller squads (5 Marines) better? I'm planning on taking some Apothecaries, so one big squad might be better me thinks when added one?

Do I want a Command Squad to go with my Praetor? I actually plan on making one anyway, but if it isn't worthwhile running them I will make only a minimum unit for my showcase.

Not planning on a fine-tuned list, but would like to get at least a playable one.

So for tsons really you dont wanna run contemptors because you have the option of osirons which the answer is yes you wanna take. Osirons are just a better option because they come in swinging hard and are mean in melee and at range.

I personally would not waste the time with a vet squad, but if you did decide to do it, i would say go with the bigger squad and an apothocary

Do you want a command squad with your praetor? no, because command squads cant cast powers, so you are better off sticking your warlord, who should be taking the magister trait, into a squad of sehkmets because you get more powers and can utilize your warlord trait better.

Also i strongly advise you look into taking/making a vigulator and recon marines with nemesis bolters. They are a cheap unit that can be REALLY annoying to your opponent.

I can see your point with the Osirons where melee is concerned, they really hit hard.

The veterans look nice because of their 2 wounds, haven't played for quite a long time so maybe overestimating their value. Will put them under consideration for later.

Yeah, I had already considered putting him with the Sekhmet, just thought they would make to tempting a target. Will probably just build some models for the showcase then.

Hadn't really put much thought into the consuls before as characters are much easier to add later, will definitely look ionto the Vigilator. Hadn't really considered Recons, but you are correct, definitely need to do some. Didn't they get to infiltrate only in Scout Armor in first edition, don't have the books just skimmed through them at a friend when they announced the box.

No both recon and scouts get both the scout and infultrate rule.

However we did just get our special scout unit back which is 175 points, for 5 guys in scout armor 4+ save, all with nemisis bolters and a BS5.

They get a special power that if successful their weapons rend on a 4+ rather then a 5+ so thats something to consider.

Just read it and they are pricey but BS 5 and Shrouded is pretty nice. Definitely need to avoid CC though.
Guess I'll make one squad of those.

I definitely need to stop adding stuff to my list for now, must priorise building an painting what I have already.
