DG are really strong now it seems. He did 5 squads of plague marines with all the bells and whistles. 3 deep striking terminator squads. 2 PBC and 2 of the little robots. A mage, a demon prince and a rhino. One small units of poxwalkers.
I had 4 dedicated melee units but I got just floored me. They are so resilient. I should have brought more shooting or better melee.

Redemptors do a lot of heavy lifting for Space Marines. A pair of them is almost an auto include. Armor of Russ, forcing a unit to go last in combat is really good. Wulfen are much improved after the points drop and will draw a lot of fire and can fight even if they get killed in CC first. Just some ideas.

Wait, why do people keep talking about wulfen point drops? They dropped like that in actarius, not nephilim.

Without getting into too much detail (I don't know gak about space wolves), DG increase in power the closer you get to them, due to weapon ranges, contagions and melee ability. You should hold off on charges as long as you can and decimate them first.
When I play DG, rushing me is a death sentence for almost any marine army.
Another pitfall for players is DR - often people charge a unit of combat experts into DG units only to find out that half their damage gets eaten by DR. Make sure to adjust your tactics and target priority accordingly.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

D2 loses the most efficiency is the key thing to remember. This is one of the few times the Relic D1 Axe actually helps a bit.

I think bringing a lot of D1 attacks and a lot of meltas could be a good answer. You need tons of D1 attacks, as they're most cost effective than D2 and D3 ones, to deal with the deathguard but also more powerful proper anti tank units to deal with the armored stuff.

I did not tailor the list. I just had a SW list with a lot of melee units in it. It was a bad cassual list. But I was shocked by the efficiency of the DG melee.

You can fight DG without tailoring. It's not an army that blows SW out the water by default.
You just need to be aware of what they can and what they can't do - they struggle to react to change or get somewhere fast, but if you play into their strengths (which melee absolutely is), then you have little hopes of winning.

Agree, you don't need to tailor. Bunch of D1 ranged/melee attacks are good against lots of armies, so are meltas. Sources of mortal wounds are great take all comers tools as well, although SW can't really spam many of those.
I actually find D2 weapons quite overrated or overcosted typically, and I don't bring many anyway. Let alone something like DD3 or DD6.
Other that that you might try to focus on scoring and denying scoring. Bait the enemy melee specialists with expendable units if you can, block their way with tanks, flyers' bases etc... sometimes we have to change out plans when the opponent has some unexpected tools/abilities, being flexible in your tactics might help. Don't play in the same way against anyone, even if you're using the same list.

DG shooting isn't all that great, but you definitely don't want to get too close to them. They're actually very competent in close combat. To put it into perspective, the combination of Contagions and plague weapons for almost everyone means they effectively have the +1 to wound bonus BA get (there are a few situations where this isn't true), but its always active, and they always re-roll 1s to wound, sometimes re-rolling all wounds. They also have a character with a super-strikes-last aura that you'll want to avoid.
They're not very mobile, though Blight Drones are pretty fast. You generally want to try to get ahead on points against them so they can't play to their strengths of sitting in the midfield and waiting for you to get close. I'm not sure if that works too well for SW with their secondaries, though.
