Cought in the drive of wanting to see the models finished, the next morning i had instant regrets when i saw the models, and realised it would be alot easier to paint had i NOT fully assembled the model.

I have seen in here a few times people suggesting placing the model in the freezer for a few hours to try to pry off superglued parts, but i want to make shure from people in here if it is realy doable before i try it.

Models are of a softer resin, Mantics Armada ships, and i used superglue from locktite, alot of it, as it was basicly gluing the masts to the hull, and it was not a deep contact point. Now i want to remove the masts from the hull. There is no places to insert the tip of a blade to help pry the parts from eachother, i guess i did a little too good job on the glue.

So, should i try the freezer and hope i can break off enugh superglue so i can try and pry the masts from the hull??

It's worth trying the freezer method, worst case is it does nothing. What you're trying to do is get some expansion and contraction cycles going and propagate internal cracks, especially if there's any moisture trapped in the glue area, and make the glue more brittle. Sometimes it works, sometimes the joint is sufficiently strong that it's still difficult to break. The hardest part will be getting a good grip on both pieces without putting too much bending force on anything and breaking the masts, so if you can find any way to get a knife blade in there that would be ideal.

One of their light walkers carried a weapon of lethal effect. It fired a form of ultra-high velocity projectile. I saw one of our tanks after having been hit by it. There was a small hole punched in either flank - one the projectile's entry point, the other its exit. The tiny munition had passed through the vehicle with such speed that everything within the hull not welded down had been sucked out through the exit hole. Including the crew. We never identified their bodies, for all that remained of them was a red stain upon the ground, extending some twenty metres from the wreck.

shure, wont cost me anything to try.
any suggestion on how long they should sty in there, and will the resin itself be affected by beeing in there, aka will it get more fragile when the model is cold?

Got any photos of the model? This might help. If worse comes to worse you could always saw the pieces off. This is the best bit of working with resin. It's easy to if you have to modify or adjust it

What will acetone free nail polish remover do to your resin? This will melt the super glue I’m pretty sure but will it melt your resin?

No photos no. I had it in the freezer for an hour, pulled with all my might and i heard a tiny crack but nothing budged, not even a micro gap to fit the tip of the blade, i glued the stuff up too well. I put so mutch glue on that a bead around the joint formed that i cant penetrated with a folding blade or exacto to use prying force.

Saw the mast in two and pinning is prolly the best solution at this point, it is good amount of material at the contact points. This is my first trip into sail ships so have not worked out the best steps to paint yet. obvioius from this experience i have to keep the masts seperated from the hull from now on.

Seeing how soft the resin is, i would not use chems on these models. It is not fragile soft, but it is the softest resin i have ever worked with.

Ugh model ship building! Gross. I follow a couple of model ship builders online and I once built a scale black pearl. They look great but God building and painting them sucks. Good luck to you.

Seriously ?!?!?! Are you aware that a product exists that will soften Superglue ?

I'd try that long before I just started prying away
