They're 15mm ish but honestly can be made to work for 30k with a bit of paintjob. The big might also work as an arvus lighter. Got this one off ebay but if you're in the us they sell them at target.

Nice. Give them a wash of Agrax Earthshade and they should be fine.

I'd suggest the Imaginext version, they're better scaled to 40K.

It's pretty much AT terrain given all the work to "re-scale" it to like 6-8mm. Might still have worked for 30k without the turrets/lascannons

I present the Hecate Heavy Dropship. I converted it from a lightyear toy. Wrote a whole bunch of fluff for it too, it's sorta like AT's version of the leopard dropship from battletech. It's basically a way for knight households to deploy small banners rapidly into combat.

Fluff:

So found this on amazon, I think it's perfect for a 30k/40k civie vehicle so I wanna convert it into one, mostly just a new paint job and a couple of bits to make it a bit more gothic/grimdark. It's about 6 inches long and I think it's a bit taller than a rhino.

The painted version of the orange flyer looks great! I wonder if it would work with Elysian drop troopers.

I think so.

According to amazon should receive it in a couple weeks. Plan is to add a couple bits and repaint the whole thing for 30k.

Thats a smart lil idea that easily straddles both Adeptus Titanicus and Horus Heresy age of Darkness scale wise..

A true bit of classic 80's ingenuity missing from the modern day hobby.

Yea I wish I could get the Armadillo in that scale in the EU for less than an actual GW flyer.

I could have sworn they weren't too expensive on ebay but it might bet the shipping that does it.

Got it mostly primed, gonna leave the grey on the bumper and in the cab, will probably black or brown wash it. It's looking more grimdark but needs some aquilas or something,

scale wise that really looks spot on for a medium sized civilian vehicle, and a nice excuse for some brighter colours to dirty up

It's a good size, only concern line of sight-wise is you can see under it a bit due to the big wheels/high clearance. I do like that it's sortof perfectly generic sci-fi, just needs skulls and aquilas.

LoS in being able to see under it is easily managed by a house rule that anyone who is TFG enough to claim that means a clear shot at the target buys the drinks

While I agree both players should be on the same page, I do think total los is a fair assumption otherwise, I've seen gun cam footage of apc's autocannon shooting under an enemy apc at troops taking cover behind it, not pretty.

but the key point is did they then have to buy the drinks?

given the 40k ruleset (and 30k) has cover and terrain rules that are laughably bad, and have been for years its intentional and won't change

locally we have a slightly different house rule based on other games for this sort of thing

- hills are infinitely tall, on a hill you can see, and be seen, over anything, except another hill, you can hide behind hills
- unless you can see more than half of an infantryman you can't see him, body & head count, arms, weapons etc don't, ankles under a vehicle don't count
- woods block line of sight through them, as does anything else similar, you can see into and out of and claim cover if within

all done to avoid the "I can see your ear through these four ruins so thats a clear shot!" garbage, also makes the game a lot faster - especially since we also have the principle:

- its a war game, if in doubt it hits/blows up etc

personally given the choice I'd just port the entire flipping game, units, weapons etc to the Lord of the Rings system, at least they have a terrain system that works and the way heros are handled is very nice.

but then Lord of the Rings doesn't have the genius that is a kids toy truck sprayed black that just looks so damned amazing

I totally get being on the same page buy there is a practicality to real line of sight I like. For example, I didn't need to come to an agreement about what we've come to call 'keyholes", small holes in walls or small windows in lower floors or simply unintentional gaps I just blocked them with wooden planks. No more issue.

But ya what worked for ruins and stuff won't work for the truck obviously

Liking what you're coming up with for the lightyear toys. I had painting plans for mine, but got distracted by a paw patrol ship....

A bit more progress on the truck, also found out a sentinel pilot fits pretty much perfectly in the drivers seat. Also added an armoured slit to the side door.
