The League of Extraordinary Riveters is looking to swell its ranks with hobby crafters of all sorts, whether you're an old hand with weathered cobblestones and backlit screens, or just picking up a hobby knife for the first time to add some life to your bases. We hope you'll join us!
Just about anything (except models) goes, including playable terrain pieces, decorative scatter terrain, unique or thematic bases, display plinths, dioramas, table tiles or components, game aids, restoration or conversion projects. That said, which of the following grabs you as an accommodating and fun theme? Round 40 will run from September through October. This poll will run until the weekend.
CALL OF THE ELEMENTS: Your build should invoke a "call of the elements" in some way, including weather and weathering, changing seasons, storms, the chemical elements, and the lure of mineral wealth, energy sources, and so on. [NOTE: This theme matches the current Terrain Building Competition theme on the terrain building subreddit, a contest (with prizes) which ends on October 3. More details
here.
FEAR FACTOR: Your build should conjure the emotion or aesthetic of fear in some way-- a torture chamber or mortuary, a rogue science lab or criminal hideout, a hazardous environment or demonic dreamscape, a classic haunted house, hospital, or carnival. (With an end date on Halloween, this seemed like an important option.)
ENLIGHTENMENT: Your build should connect in some way to light. You might create light sources like searchlights or signal fires, produce lighting effects like
OSL, experiment with shadows and light, or use coin cells and LEDs to wire up your own lights.
THE VAULT: Your build should store something of value; it could be a treasure room, a computer core, a library or gallery, a sacred reliquary, a tomb, a hangar or garage, an armory, a high-security control system, a doomsday device... the place must be built to display or protect something of value.
