Hello,

What is the correct way to use the advanced position special rule for aeldari that works like the old infiltrate, for rangers and striking scorpions. Can I deploy them at any point when I’m deploying? Or do I have to wait until all friendly and enemy units are deployed and only then deploy them? The rule says “during deployment” but then after the deployment rules it says then you use special pre-game abilities and stratagems.

Also, regarding deep striking or putting units in reserves. Do you have to decide and declare what is deep striking before deployment begins? Or can I decide to deep strike a unit after I’ve already begun deploying but before that unit is deployed?

Rejoice in the coming oblivion!

ADVANCED POSITIONS
During deployment, when you set up this unit, if every model in this unit has this ability, it can be set up anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" away from the enemy deployment zone and any enemy models.
There is no stipulation allowing or requiring you use this deployment method after normal deployment. You use it when you select to deploy that unit.

Most 9th Edition Mission Packs dictate when you place units into reserves, either Strategic Reserves or off the battlefield via a special rule. These generally have it done before unit deployments. Some special rules allow you to change a unit deployment during or after deployment, but generally you decide before any units are deployed.
