In My Lab

I'm big on making my own content for games I like, and I was musing over the following rule. Probably most useful on a Line unit, to hold an objective against a normally superior force.

Total Defense
A unit with this rule may choose, at the start of any fight phase, to double their WS for the duration of the phase. If they do so, their Attacks stat is set to 0 for the duration of the phase, and they may not benefit from any source of additional attacks.

Edit: I should point out, I have no idea WHO would get this rule. But it's an idea!

I would second breachers, or anything that would act as a wall or barrier unit. Maybe the admech; they have tech thralls, right?

Reminds me of D&D 3rd:

1. Default fight
2. Fight defensively (+2AC, Att-4)
3. Total defense (+4AC, no attacks)

No attacks for a tabletop game is too harsh imo. How about that:


Shield Wall (Unique Reaction)

Requirement:
- Any unit equipped with shields.
- Must be in the boundaries of an objective.
- Reaction is used instead of "Hold the ground" reaction.

Unit which is using Shield Wall reaction will double their WS for defense purposes but will halve their WS for attack purposes. This reaction will last until the close combat engagement ends.
