Hey. I played 1st and 2nd Ed of Epic and 1st of AT. Bought new AT and some other sets like reavers and wolfhounds. I have a 3d resin printer and my painting queue is clearing up for this new project!

I've watched some batreps and folks are using stuff like sicarians. I have DLd netEpic gold and NetArmageddon but can't find those rules.

I'm probably gonna build wolves and Tsons but only with classic units anyway so it doesn't matter too much.

Subquestion: anyone have any list ideas (about3k each) for these two factions using mainly 1990s units? I don't mind doing identical lists.

Subsubquestion: when building tac squads do you include a heavy weapon or nah?

Thanks
DrG

Subquestion one - under which ruleset?

Subquestion two - if you are printing, go wild! I have seen everything from 5 tac marines, to one stand with sarge, 1 stand with missile launcher, and then forumware prints where they have recreated 40k tactical units in miniature.

I was going to do a Sgt and ML.

I'm not sure but it looks like net EA is the favored set. So that's what I printed and sprial bound

Depends.

If you're looking for new models as in Heresy stuff like Sicarans, Spartans and so on, there are a couple of alternatives. For 2nd edition vibes, there is a d10-based system called Imperius Dominatus (https://imperiusdominatus.org/) made by the people who developed NetEpic through the decades after GW let it go. ID incorporates basically everything FW has written about in their black books. If you like Epic: Armageddon's tighter rules instead, then you should look for the Australian EpicAU lists that do the same in E:A framework. Their wiki has been down for some time, but can still be reached through Internet Archives (https://web.archive.org/web/20200605220948/http://epicau.com/mw/index.php/Legion_Astartes). EpicAU development is slow and mostly happens over at their Facebook group "Epic 30k".

If you're looking for newer 40k stuff like Primaris, there are some drafts at TacCom's kitchen sink lists, but those units don't really differ much from the previous entries at this scale. 30k aside, fan groups that develop lists for various Epics have pretty much frozen the aesthetics at the 2000's range of 40k without attempting to shoehorn in every new model GW makes.

#ConvertEverything blog with loyalist Death Guard in true and Epic scales. Also Titans and killer robots! C&C welcome.

There is a netEA forum which I am a bit out of touch with (I had log in problems for ages then gave up and drifted away). Those lists tend to have lots of new units and more units in. The EpicUK lists tend to be narrower and designed more for tournament balance. Oh and they also use mostly the old commonly available Epic units or commonly available proxies.

So the wolves core is the old space marine plastics
(Pictures here http://epic-uk.co.uk/lists/CodexSpaceMarines.pdf)

The T-sons list does use newer chaos plastics from 3rd edition, but you could depending on your models be ok.

Perhaps scale down the heavy bolters on the wingtips?
