If I'm doing a dark angel list where I want my tac marines to hold objectives would you guys advise bayonets?

Thanks for your time!

This depends what you want of your games. I watched recently a Youtube video of a couple of German guys who regularly played 40K tournaments and tried HH 2.0 for the first time. Their approach to gaming was this:
"Keep everything as cheap as possible for maximum gain."
That mindset has it´s limits in HH 2.0 when squads can get crucial upgrades which make them vastly more efficient. Just think of all the penalties during night fighting.

I collect Iron Hands and their mindset is often to sink their points in vehicles/walkers and neglect infantry. But I decided to throw this idea in the bin as I want to have LOTS of infantry with chain bajonets chewing through hordes of plague zombies. I play tabletop for the spectacle and not for number crunching.

How is your attitude towards wargaming?

The plan is to run more casual games, but not get completely stomped lol. I want some contemptors, a sicarian, some snipers, dreadwing interemptors, and one of the elite melee units. I am learning more towards deathwing companions.
I will eventually homebrew a horus heresy rpg just to have fun with cool models. As in use all of the combat mechanics of the game to keep learning it but put in rpg elements along with.

Depends on how you play them - hold backfield objectives, probably just bolters and maybe a bayonet. If they are going to take an objective from someone, then chain bayonets. Moving forward, bayonets at minimum. If you know your enemy is going HTH then always get bayonets at minimum.

You also have 3 good options for the hexagrammaton - Stormwing for +1 to hit with bolters, Firewing for bonuses to hit characters, and Dreadwing for resistant to some weapons but most will kill you on 2+ anyway.

Stormwing is a no brainer for tacticals, given that it works in every shooting situation. A 20 man stormwing squad Fury of the Legioning on overwatch will put a dent in an assault.

As for the bayonets. If it's a backline objective I probably wouldn't worry them. Mid-board or further and if you have the points spare, then sure. Alternatively, if you really have the points to spare, consider chainswords. You don't get the 1+ Strength, but you still get shred and you gain 1+ Attack for 2 close combat weapons.
I'm sure there's some situations where to the 1+ Strength is more beneficial. But I think for most T4 units the extra attack would do you more good.
