So this is purely a rumour and could just be a mistake on a website. However a merchant selling models on Etsy today noticed that they'd had a bunch of models removed from sale under a copyright strike. When reviewing the details of the removed models, the claimant for the copyright strike was Netflix. These claims were all on warhammer models, though not copies (Claybeast Creation - CBC - models such as their ghost rats)

We know that GW has been pushing into TV/Steaming and that they had their live-action Inquisitor series, at the very least, which they were shopping around for. So potentially this could mean Netflix has picked up a GW licence!

Got the info from the guy running the store in question on the CBC Discord group

Did he provide screen shots of the copyright claim?

Not as yet no, I have asked. Though right now I've no reason to suspect its a lie.

I see no reason why Netflix should be able to copyright strike GW models even if they did have a license, they wouldn't be getting the copyright in a way that lets them go after miniature designers. Especially not if they're just inspired by rather than copies.

Nextflix has been buying up mobile game devs amongst it's other activities, maybe they've picked up one with an active GW licence and are trying takedowns based on that?

If it's actually Netflix, they might have a show or film with similar designs.

It might not be Neflix - fraudulent copyright claims do happen.

I very much doubt it has anything to do with GW licencing.

With AI and bots being more and more of a thing it could also be that the models, despite being inspired by GW, looked too much like something on Netflix.
