Not the biggest fan of AoS but I'd love to see Felix return as Gotrek's companion. He's not the same without him.

Well, his most recent travelling companion for AoS :

Spoiler:
Is implied to have died at the end of Soulslayer, though its not shown. There is plenty of precedent for WHFB heroes to return as SCE, which seems the only “realistic” return for Felix, so him coming back would work imo.

Gotrek has a travel companion job opening, since Maleneth is seemingly out of the picture and Gotrek sets off alone.

So Felix is pretty much gone - the only way he might come back is as a Stormcast, but whlist its hinted that it could happen, the nature of Stormcast would mean he'd likely have forgotten lots of everything, plus even if not he'd be infused into a titanic body of muscle and all so he'd be very different than he once was. In a way I don't want him back because I feel like either he'll come back the same and it will feel like weak story telling (unless its pulled off masterfully); or he'll change and he'll always feel odd for being so different.

Personally I enjoyed Malineth and whilst her personality has shifted a little between books and audio drama and short stories; I enjoy the shift in dynamic between her and Gotrek over Gotrek and Felix. If anything Gotrek feels a bit weaker as he spends every book coming up with a new "this is my life's mission" only to dash it on the rocks by the end. So in a way I'd like a little more stability for Gotrek or at least a sense that the long running story threads are being connected together more than just end and start book content wise.
I also like that gotrek is a little more pro-active now in the Mortal Realms. Granted he's totally lost, but he feels like he's pushing himself forward at times; like he's going somewhere with his character and tale.

Malineth also 100% deserves her own model and its criminal that GW hasn't given her one.

Don't mind if they turn into a bit of a party like the earlier G&F stories, the 3 of them tooling about. I just enjoyed Felix as the straight man to gotreks crazy.

Stormcast makes sense, but aos doesn't seem to be afraid of throwing bit curves and inventing crazy things, so they could come up with many reasons he returns as is.

Maybe he's actually got gotrek's axe and has been wandering Ronin style with in sheathed across his back and amnesia. The axe making him immortal and he driven to right wrongs.

A Clint Eastwood gritty Felix could be cool.

I have liked Maleneth. She isn't Felix, and there is no attempt to make her be Felix. She is her own character with a different dynamic with Gotrek and the slow progression of that has been enjoyable to read. Personally I found Ghoulslayer to be a bit weak as the author found his footing but Gitslayer and very much Soulslayer I really liked.

Spoiler:
I don't think Maleneth is dead, nor her Idoneth ally, I feel like the amount of effort out into developing the latter's background in Soulslayer points towards a continuing narrative rather then suddenly throwing it all away. It would be interesting to see a repeat of the Gitslayer premise via Maleneth being bait, only this time Gotrek learns(!) and does something different than before.

Agreed wtf Maleneth has no model is beyond me.

Not read Soulslayer yet - Gitslayer was ok but it would be nice to see more stories like The Bone Desert - I prefered that to the more recent novels.

Gotrek's basically given up on finding Felix with his new "dwelling on the past is why the Dwarfs failed before" mentality.
