Hi everyone,

in the near future I would like to join the Raven Guard Players and was thrilled when I saw the announcement of the "Raven Guard - Ravenstrike Battleforce".

Now my problem is I really dont know if the Troops in the Box are any good... So I hope some of you good people can help me with my investment (as I am not THAT rich and would like to buy stuff that is actually viable The box might be cheaper than regular, but will still be pricey)

The box contains:

Kayvaan Shrike
Librarian in Phobos Armour
10 Primaris Reivers
2 Invictor Tactical Warsuits
3 Eliminators

I really appreciate the help, thanks!

In the current rules it's bad, but who knows in 10th edition or SM 2.0 codex

The Reivers really aren't great from a gameplay standpoint, but they are fun models to build and quite fitting for raven guard

So what I get from this so far is that it would be better to buy single parts instead of the box...

As I assume that the box will be at around 200€/$ ^^'

If you want those models no, if you just want parts of it yes.

As always with discount you need to want all or close to all kits from the box to make it worth. If you just want 1, 2 boxes from the discout box you better be able to sell them.

If you are looking at adding all into your collection though then you pay more buying single parts.

Issue here being reivers. ATM they are bad but of course GW being GW they can make them next OP thing next book. So if you are looking at netlisting this is bad.

As already pointed out: GWs deal boxes are only a good deal if you actually want everything in them. The moment you are not interested in any one part, you are better off getting the rest seperately.

Given that the Raven Guard box seems to be rather lackluster in terms of "ingame power", I guess it comes down to the following questions:

1. Do you like all the models in the box?
2. Do you want to play with them despite them being "not optimal"?

If the answer to both of these is "yes", then I would suggest you get the box. And remember: rules are temporary, models are forever. What does your gut tell you?

If he wants to join the RG players, then I assume he has no models yet. Aside for the eliminators, non of the models in the box are on the list a new RG player should be buying. And some of the units, like the reavers, are on the never buy list.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Well usually chbasest(or second cheapest) you can skip and still save. That's why i have ended with spare heroes. Even without those it saves money.

In any case it's easy to check. Add up cost of kits you want, compare

It's a weird buy. It's all stuff that lore wise should be good for raven guard, but mechanically right now isn't. And reavers are just a bottom ten unit in all of 40k.

Still, if you actually want the chapter associated with the boxes, GW usually gives a bigger discount on boxes with upgrade sprues. If you know somebody that wants the invictors, it can be a great buy.

The Reivers are great for some alternate poses if you plan to get infiltrators later down the line. Also the Eliminators contain so many bits you can turn 6 Reivers into Eliminators with some minimal cutting and greenstuff, provided you don't mind missing cloaks (or sculpt them yourself) and can source extra bases.
