I want to see what everyone thinks of this off-beat idea: taking FOUR Sagitaurs and filling them with Hearthkyn, and possibly putting a unit of Hearthguard inside a Land Fortress as well. Here's the list:
Battalion Detachment (Greater Thurian League)
Uthar the Destined: Warlord, Warlord Trait (fixed traits are Ancestral Wisdom and Experienced Eye)
Einhyr Champion: Mass Hammer, Weavefield Crest, Relic (Exactor), Legend of the League (Warrior Lord)
Brokhyr Iron-Master: Forge-Master upgrade, Legend of the League (Master Armorer)
10 Hearthkyn Warriors: Magna-rail Rifle, L7 Missile Launcher
10 Hearthkyn Warriors: Magna-rail Rifle, L7 Missile Launcher
10 Hearthkyn Warriors: Magna-rail Rifle
5 Einhyr Hearthguard: 5x Concussion Gauntlet, 5x Volkanite Disintegrator, Teleport Crest, Bequest of the Votann (Warpestryk)
3 Hernkyn Pioneers: 1x HYLas Rotary Cannon, 1x Pan-spectral Scanner
2 Sagitaurs: 2x MATR Autocannon
2 Sagitaurs: 2x MATR Autocannon
Hekaton Land Fortress: 4x Bolt Cannon, Heavy Magna-rail Cannon, Pan-spectral Scanner
2000 points on the nose, starts with 1 CP
Basically the gist of this list is to maximize the GTL reroll benefit by spreading out the heavy weapons on the Hearthkyn to separate units; the units with 2 heavies will each split and go into the Sagitaurs. L7s aren't the best, but they aren't awful either, and the half-squads with them can at least be action monkeys for Banners or Retrieve Nephilim Data when applicable, using the speed of their transports to reach farther than they could on foot. Uthar and the Forge-master will stay near the Land Fortress, with the latter providing repairs and nullifying a big hit each turn thanks to Master Armorer, and Uthar helping lock in a 6 for its big gun each turn. Depending on mission needs, I could put the Hearthguard inside the Fortress as a counter-charge threat or start them elsewhere or even deep strike them, with their relic crest messing with opposing deep strikes if they are on the board (and giving them a free use of Site-to-Site Teleport for late game objective grabs). The Einhyr Champion is there to potentially one-round a big threat like a C'tan (Warrior Lord lets him ignore phase caps and FnP); the GTL reroll could help him out if he whiffs on a hit or wound roll.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):

This is a solid list and is the kind you could play five times then tweak, five more times then tweak again, etc.

The only issue with the units of 5 Warriors with 1 heavy weapon is that it limits the power of the Medipack. 10 Warriors with 1 MRR and 1 Medipack is 7 ablative wounds and the ablative 2 wound 4++ squad leader.

If I was buying this list I would be tempted to start with just 2 Sagitaurs and see how I enjoyed the two 5 mans first. Unless I just loved Sagitaurs and knew I wanted 4 of them. Because I think everything else listed is in the right kind of small quantities that you wouldn't regret owning them down the line.

I didn't take medipacks; the troop units are barebones other than the weapons. I do see your point about starting with 2 Sagitaurs though, and that's honestly probably what I'm going to do.
