Is it just me or are they singing "F-Yea" in that trailer? Is that really appropriate for the children of all ages that would be interested in a movie based on a Saturday morning cartoon show? Urgh...
Didn't care for the Beast era of Transformers as I had moved on from kid shows in the mid-90s, but someone has fond memories of it all the same. Thats good I guess?
Well.... Bumble Bee was surprisingly really good. But that was a personal story with a few characters. This looks like it's back to a bay-explosion-thon.
For those who give a gak.
I recognized:
Prime
Bumblebee
Mirage
Arcee
Optimus Primal
Cheetor
Rhinox
Dinobot (he is standing over Prime and turns and stabs Bumblebee about half way through the trailer)
And .... maybe? Black Arachnia and Waspinator in the big final fight scene.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I'll probably see it anyway. Dunno yet.
I'm pretty sure that's what's being chanted in the trailer. What the hell?
And also.....does this somehow follow the Unicron story that was starting, or in what I come to expect from Bay, are they just abandoning that?
"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."
Better than anything Christopher Nolan will make....has made.

I mean I want to like it, but I know its a Bay film and even with cool beatwars mechs and some slightly more recognisable transformers I still think I'll end up getting confusing in the action sequences and annoyed at plot written by a
3 year old on a sugar rush.

I believe Jazz died in the first Transformers movie (which is no guarantee he hasn't been weirdly resurrected) I'm inclined to say Mirage, based off of the powers shown. Even though Mirage has never been a Porsche.

This one comes between Bumblebee and the first Bayformers movie. It's set in 1994.
That said, Wikipedia's cast list says "Pete Davidson as Mirage, an Autobot spy who transforms into a silver-blue Porsche 964"

It's not in the original Bayverse. It's a reboot coming after Bumblebee. Certain things have stayed the same because Bumblebee was not originally intended to be a reboot but then massive rewrites (which added the absolutely stellar Cybertron scenes) meant that while certain aspects (Camaro alt mode) remained, it's a new timeline. The voice cast isn't actually naff either.
As for the cast we have:
Autobots - Prime (Peter Cullen, obvs), Bee, Mirage (Pete Davidson) (also actual Mirage with actual Mirage abilities), Wheeljack (Cristo Fernández) (VW Campervan which is just great), and Arcee (Liza Koshy) (again proper Arcee that isn't just a cameo or whatever RotF was).
Maximals - Primal (Ron Perlman), Rhinox (David Sobolov), Cheetor, and Airrazor (Michelle Yeoh) (birb).
Terrorcons (seemingly the Merc faction Hasbro tried so hard to sell but actually cool) - Scourge (Peter Dinklage), Nightbird (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez), and Battletrap (also David Sobolov).
A fair few TF alumni are in there with the big PC, Perlman, and Sobolov. As for the rest, its gonna be a wait-and-see for how good they are.

And given that he was originally a Formula 1 car, it kinda makes sense to give him a more "street legal" appearance, as it'd be odd to have a driverless F1 car zooming around everywhere.
You've just reminded me of a webcomic where Prime gets increasingly annoyed at the very obvious and non-stealthy alt modes some of the G1 Autobots had.

What do you mean a lambo is a bad disguise? It's perfect! No one notices a lambo it's completely innocuous!

Isn't that Sideswipe? (I think that was my first Transformers toy).
My big take from that trailer is that water doesn't make people wet - those two kids by the river should have been drenched!

Transformers 2023, everyone turns into Ford Pickups and Toyota Rav 4s.

Naw in the UK they'd be Hermes or Evri as they are now called

No problem, we just summon the army of Deliveroo riders; they wouldn’t stand a chance…

It was interesting seeing Arcee but, to me, all the live action films have been hot garbage. Having an Autobot urinate on someone in the first set the stage then focusing on Devastators "testicles" put the nail in the coffin.
I did see Bumblebee at home when I could stream it free and it was ok but still not enough to get me back into the live action franchise.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
Wasn't Prime's first line in the first film "My Bad" after stepping on a dog house?
Which kind of sums up the problem as well. Because the films are so human centric we get this hero worship of Optimus Prime in the film, but he actually doesn't really do much if anything. We don't get the sense of him being a great leader, fighter in the last parts perhaps, but all the hero worship is told to us rather than shown.
I've not seen some of the latter films where I believe the Transformers take a more central story role, but in general my biggest issue with the early films was they were mostly a teen romance with a backdrop of lots of explosions and some robots.

The human-centric nature of the first three movies was made worse by the fact that Sam was such an unlikable character. Instead of being the 'Everyman' character that Bay wanted him to be, I just wanted a Decepticon to step on him and let the robots get on with the story.
I did actually really enjoy Age of Extinction, which learnt some valuable lessons from the first three movies. And then came the Last Knight, which was an incomprehensible mess.
Bumblebee was by far the best of the live action movies so far, and it's a little disappointing to have this one apparently leaning back towards the Bayformers style. Curious to see how they explain the giant robot animals, though.

Due to the recent Transformer trailer, a bunch of clips have started appearing in my YT feeds, and I watched some of the Last Knight ones. I've seen that movie - once - and even I can't figure out what the hell is going on. It somehow takes the impenetrable visual noise of the Bayformer films and makes it worse.
There are parts of the third three that I really like, but the title of each of them should have been:
Humans With Special Guest Appearance by Optimus Prime & The Autobots
Would've been more accurate.
The Cybertron flashbacks in Bumblebee - which was't bad, BTW - were some of the coolest things I've ever seen. They even got Cybertron right, FFS. I get that animation is expensive, but it's clear that the people making these have some inkling that that's what we want to see, but instead it's more humans humans humans!
Can we please get a good Transformers film before Peter Cullen retires. Or worse.

I saw an interesting theory once that they should have just ditched Sam from the first two films and made Michela’s the main character, as (on paper, at least), she’s a much more interesting character.
